Hi, my name is Amy and I've had my cat for 7 years, his name is Tom and he moved to Australia with my family when we moved. Tom is a rescue cat and we reckon he's about 9 years old. 2 months ago, we rescued another male cat, Tigger. The owner thought he was a young adult but recently due to his behaviour thought he was an older kitten. We think around 6 months.
We tried to slowly introduce them and Tigger was fine, a little over-friendly and Tom was the one who hissed at him. Tigger, when in the house and not under constant supervision, began chewing wires and we have managed to train him to stop but he's a very active, excitable cat and Tom enjoys his sleep now he's a bit older. Even though Tigger started off well, he's began noticing Tom is a bit of a wuss. So he's started attacking him and we've tried squirt bottles but as soon as Tom sees him, he runs away and Tigger chases him and its recently got worse and Tom refines to a room or outside, he's still eating but he is definetly uneasy when around Tigger and I hate to see him so stressed but I don't know how to sort the problem between them, if a fight happened, I'm scared of Tom getting hurt. My parents are considering giving Tigger back to the rescue shelter and he's only got a few days! I desperately don't want him to go, but I don't want Tom unhappy, being chased my a young cat.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
