I've been eagerly awaiting the birth of the stray cat's kittens since they day she arrived. I've never had a pregnant cat before, so I'm simply going off of what I've read. I was sure she'd have her kittens within days of arriving at my house. But... no. Not yet. Every little movement... I think it's a sign she's in labor.

Today, however, she stopped eating. She's been lying around all day, and she seems kind of tired. She's been lactating since she arrived last Wednesday. I'm done with taking her temperature. She's obviously not happy about it, so I've decided not to stress her our and let what's going to happen happen.

I've thought every single night was the night, but I really feel like tonight is the night. I'm sure she'll have them while I'm sleeping. Her breathing seems a little more labored, she's been grooming excessively, and she attempted to bust out of her room last night by pulling up the carpet by the door and pulling a blind down. She's not nesting. But, then again, this is her first litter, and she's terribly young. So maybe it's just happening differently. She's been lying on her side all day, though, and meows at me when I come in the room.

Today is the first day I can feel the babies moving. They are like little firecrackers in there! It was insane to feel them moving! I felt these weird motherly emotions rush in when I felt them move. So... I'm hoping that it happens tonight! I doubt I'll even be able to sleep.

Good luck - just in case, do you know where the vets/e-vets in your area are? I'm in the camp that when you know where everyone is, you won't need them, and that's what I hope for you - at least till the babies arrive and you take them for their first vet visit.
