Are in a cardboard box in my office! At least I think they're his; two of them look just like him.

Our warehouse manager came to me this morning to tell me that they had found a litter of kittens between the dock and the dumpster. He was worried that they'd be crushed when the truck came to empty the dumpster, so at lunchtime, he and I went out with a large cardboard box and gathered up four adorable kittens - two gray tabbies (one with white socks), a tortie and a completely black furball.

They have vet appointments tomorrow, so I'll find out age and sex and whether or not they're still nursing. It does seem that the black tuxedo cat is their mother, so I'll bring my trap to work tomorrow and try to catch her. The vet doesn't want to spay her if she's lactating, so I may have to keep her for a little while before surgery. The kitties have been eating the wet food I put in their box, so my guess is that they're just about finished with nursing.

Two of my office mates have already expressed interest in adopting two of the kitties, and I shouldn't have any problems finding homes for the other two. I suspect my daughter will fall in love with at least one of them.

I'll try to get some photos when I get home tonight. They are such sweeties.

OH MY
Thank goodness they were found!! And I bet they are your Charley's. You might just have to keep one
and name her Charlotte
if it is a girl. You are a great person to take on caring for them and finding them homes. Good luck with trapping tuxedo mom. The babies sound very cute. Pictures when you can

Well, we had an interesting evening. I had to deliver an important document to my daughter at school, so I left the box of kittens with my son and his best friend. They later went out, leaving the box wide open and the kittens escaped into my son's room. It took quite a bit of effort to find and retrieve them from their hiding places. "We didn't think they could climb out," was the excuse I was given.

I secured them in a large pet carrier and brought them into my bedroom for the night. I put a heating pad under the back half of the carrier to keep them warm. We played with them a lot last night, and they now want to come out of the carrier at every opportunity. Because their first instinct is to seek out a hiding place, we keep close tabs on them, and take them out of the carrier one or two at a time. They don't seem to mind being handled, and one of them really loves the feather wand toy.

After the vet has checked them out and verified that they're healthy, I'll have to evict Charley from his cage so the babies can have a little more room (and learn to use a litter box) until they're ready to be adopted. I have ordered a cat condo for Charley, and he'll still have his carrier to hide out in until the condo arrives.

My daughter said she'd take photos of the kittens today while I'm at work, so I hope to have pics to post very soon.

Thanks for all the good wishes; I'm so grateful that we managed to save these kitties.

Love the excuse your son gave
and glad you found them all in his room. They sound just precious. I bet the mom cat is looking for them and I sure hope you can trap her. Since the kittens are not hissing and spitting at you, I have to wonder if someone dumped them off behind your office building?! The kittens sound like they have been handled before. Hope you can trap mom very soon. Can't wait to see the pictures if you can get them
. for this babies

Oh, we had lots of hissing and spitting on the first day, especially from the gray tabby with the white socks, who was acting as the Protector for his siblings. The other, all-gray tabby made friends with us immediately (and he's the one my daughter wants us to keep) and seems to be bonding with us readily while the other three are still a bit scared of us.

We have three boys and a girl, and the vet says they're in fine shape. I'll post pics as soon as my daughter finds her USB cable and we can get the photos off her camera.

The kitties are about 8 weeks old. They'll go back to the vet in 4 weeks for another distemper booster and we'll do the FeLV test before they go to their forever homes.

We're definitely keeping the all-gray tabby. He has a personality just like our poor departed Kameko - bold and adventurous, yet also very cuddly and loving. He begs to be held and snuggled - who could resist? I want to call him Philip J. Remarkable; my daughter wants to call him Luke.

Two of my coworkers backed out of taking the tortie (Alice) and the black kitty (Maxwell), but my daughter found a classmate who wants the tortie. My other coworker who wants the gray tabby with the white socks (Buzz Fledderjohn) told me that her husband is thinking that they should adopt two of the kitties so they won't be lonely, so the black kitty may go with his brother if my son can bear to let Maxwell go.

My daughter told me that she posted pictures of the kitties on her Facebook page last night; I'll have to nag her into sending the files to me so you all can see how adorable these babies are. They are settling in very well, feeling more secure and less fearful, playing and wrestling, and eating like little Hoovers. We have achieved almost 100% litter box compliance as well. Buzz is still a little unsure, but he'll catch on soon.

I have a spay appointment for their mama on May 11th, so I hope to trap her a few days prior. The vet wants to be sure her milk supply is mostly dried up before doing the surgery.

Sounds just perfect and all is working out very well with these little babies. I just love the names you have picked!! That would be great if someone took two of the kittens. I always recommend kittens in pairs anyway. Then they have a playmate and it is such a joy to watch the siblings playing together. Wonder what Charley will think??
. The kitten might help him come around even more
. Enjoy the little furbabies and glad they are all doing well!
