Deer, raccoons, foxes, bunnies, squirrels, groundhogs and an occasional bear. Several people (including me) have seen what we think is a bobcat, although the game commission swears they're not around anymore.
Oh I was gonna say 'cats' because I thought you meant inside
The common wildlife around here are squirrels and pigeons. When I lived in Queens (40 minutes to the east), I did see a mesmerizing blue jay and equally mesmerizing cardinal. OMG
, I'd like to see those again, but in Manhattan I'm guessing that's a tall order.
Let's see. You would see Yogi my feral, the other's would run and hide. You would see squirrels, many robins and cardinals, the annoying woodpecker who pecks at the side of my house, some deer, a friendly racoon, an opposum, the chipmunk family that live outside my front door whom I feed cereal
For mammals we have: deer, raccoons, squirrels, foxes, possums, bobcats and while you probably won't see one, cougars. We get the occasional armadillo wander up here from Texas.
For birds: a great variety of hawks, woodpeckers, song birds, morning doves, quail, wild turkeys, etc. We've counted roughly 100 species of birds in our area and I won't bore you with our list. I was happy to see our first Oriole of the year at the feeder this morning. The hummingbirds will be back soon.
For reptiles: snakes - most of them the garden variety, water moccasins, black snakes, but we've also see a couple of timber rattlesnakes (endangered species). Also lots of turtles and frogs.
You would see all kinds of birds including hawks and eagles. Possums and raccoons are plentiful. Wild turkeys are seen in the fields around my house. There are ducks and geese at my pond in the yard. There are some squirrels and rabbits, but they are not plentiful because of wild animals that eat them. Under the right circumstances you would see bears and bear cubs, and an occasional cougar. We have many bobcats and cototes.
Mule deer, rats with antlers......er whitetail deer, pronghorn antelope, moose, the odd escaped elk, coyotes, wolves, badgers, and assorted vermin (gophers, etc) and sometimes, the odd cougar and bobcat.
For birds, blackbirds: yellowheaded and redwing as well as what we lump in with them those being starlings and grackles, hawks. the odd eagle (golden and bald), crows, flickers, woodpeckers, kildeers, meadowlarks, prairie horned larks, robins, assorted thrushes, warblers and fiinches, ducks, geese, grebes, owls (if you are lucky, burrowing owls), avocets and other shore birds and a bunch I dont know the names of.
