I am feeling down right now, so forgive me if I don't make much sense...
I am sure most remember Bugsy's diarrhea... Well, he was good for a little while, but it has slowly coming back. Yesterday I walked by the litterbox and noticed a pool of liquid diarrhea - it is back full force.
I called the vet first thing this morning, and we both decided the best to do is exploratory surgery with a full biopsy of all his digestive organs.
At this point we feel we tried all we could try to get here. It's been almost 7 months of diarrhea. Many different treatments - antibiotics, steroids, natural treatments, all sorts of tests you can possibly imagine.
Treating him affected his liver so trying and error is no longer a choice.
We could do a simple endoscopic biopsy, but that would mostly confirm IBD, and Bugsy had no response whatsoever to steroids. His tests also show a low level of inflammation.
From his vet experience, due to endoscopy limitations in complicated cases such as Bugsy, we could fall into a situation of having to do a second procedure with inconclusive biopsy results, and having to do this procedure anyways... With exploratory they can sample all digestive organs and visually check them for problems.
So here we are...
He goes in on the 16th, spends the night and comes back on the 17th at noon. They will biopsy his stomach, pancreas, liver and intestines.
I am crushed, but at the same time hoping this will give us some answers. I am ready to have Bugsy healthy again... I just wish I could explain to him why he needs to go through so much pain so often... He just went through a rough dental surgery
If I just could take his pain away...
My poor baby...
Please if you can spare some vibes, it would be much appreciated...
