My cat is having a hard time walking around. He seems very off balance and struggles to walk straight and is not able to jump up anywhere easily. I have taken him to the vet and when blood tests were done the blood clotted right away so he said it was an infection. My cat was put on an IV with an antibiotic and stayed the night with the vet. The next day he seemed somewhat better but still was having a hard time walking around and looked very off balance. My cat was put on antibiotics for 8 days and that has not seemed to help with him walking right. Any ideas what this may be for when I bring him to the vet? Thanks for your help!

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

If he's walking off balance, then it sounds like it has nothing to do with an infection, but rather some type of neurological problem. If he is older, he may have had a stroke. If he is younger, he could have gotten into something poisonous. Of course there are a number of other things that could have caused it - these are some of the serious issues. I don't know enough about blood clotting timings to know what might have caused his blood to clot right away. I've never heard of fast blood clotting to be an indication of a bacterial infection.
This sounds really, really serious to me. If it were me, I'd be taking him to a different vet immediately. A vet that prescribes antibiotics for a cat with a balance issue doesn't sound like they know what they are doing.
Please keep us posted on what is going on.

Thank your for your response. I am suspecting it to be some type of neurological problem as well. The vet I took him too the first time suspected that it may be a problem with his brain but also said that the blood clotting suggested that there was an infection present in the body. He seemed more interested in my money than helping with my poor little guy. I am taking him to another vet tomorrow with the hope that they can be of better service.

That was my first thought, too. Either a stroke or neurological problem. If his blood is clotting, there's a reason for it, and my first thought would be that a clot formed somewhere and caused a stroke. I'd definitely would be taking the cat to a different vet. It sounds as if your current vet doesn't know what he's doing, and is just saying "infection" cuz he has no idea.

I sure hope your kitty will be all right, and that it's nothing serious!
