Went to Petco because I had a coupon for $5 off my entire order. My g/f and I looked around for a bit and we noticed a clearance cart with various cat and dog foods on it. I took a closer look and noticed that they were blowing out Nutro Max Cat (Indoor Formula) for $1.20/bag. They were 6lb bags. I had to ask the clerk to scan it because I couldn't believe my eyes. He said "yep, a buck 20." I checked the dates and everything looked fine. The original price sticker on it was $13.95! It's not my cat's normal food, but for a little over a dollar I couldn't refuse. I grabbed all except two bags (to be fair). I also had a coupon for $5 off Blue Buffalo (7lb or larger bags; also not my cat's normal food but was a great deal and she doesn't get upset tummy when I switch) so I mosey over there to take a look. What's this? A Manager's Special for Blue Buffalo, 3LB bags for THREE DOLLARS!!! No WAY!!

Once again, grabbed all that I could carry. I had about 10 bags of cat food. When the clerk rung all of the items up, the Blue Buffalo was actually $1.29. I couldn't believe it. After he put everything through, scanned my Petco Pals Card, and the $5 off coupon, I paid - get this - $4.86 for 10 bags of cat food.

I was ecstatic.

That's my pet score of the week. Maybe the year, or the lifetime, I haven't decided yet.

What stories do you have about finding great deals on pet food?

They put the stuff in the sale basket to be sold. You should buy all you want!

Congrats on a great score. You kitties will thank you for the good quality.

I think leaving some for someone else was a very considerate thing to do. I do that also.

I'm glad your kitty's digestive system doesn't get messed up by dry food changes, so you can stock up like that, that's great!

I've been taking advantage of PetCo's free shipping promotions on line. I've stocked up on six months of canned food, at the lowest prices on the internet, with free shipping. Doesn't get any better than that!

I know! I used to really like PetSmart for some reason, and thought it was better than PetCo, because of their Pet Perks club. But I realized that PetCo had one of them too, the "pals" card, and the more I shop at PetCo, the more I realize I really, really like it.

I got my mom to switch over to Chicken Soup for her dog, a beautiful Australian Shepherd, but the place that carries it is too far out of the way, so she said she stopped at Petsmart or Petco and got Blue. I was like YEAH! Good choice ma!

Most of the time Blue is just too expensive for me, but I'm glad I could get a bunch of it this time, because Sadie just loves it!

I'll check out the online supply too, who knows, maybe they'll throw a good deal on there!

I have two:

Most of my cats eat a raw diet and a few weeks ago I got 65 pounds of meat for $60 which included beef, pork, whole chickens, chicken heart and gizzards, beef liver and kidney, turkey, and chicken drumettes. That's around 15 days worth of food between 20 cats. I was happy

When I am able to get another freezer I'll hopefully be able to get meat for free, from people cleaning out their freezer's. Come hunting season, I have already asked a deer processer for scraps, so that will be (hopefully) a lot of free food for my cats. Plus I'm going to try start buying chicken directly from Draper Valley Farms instead of the grocery store, in hopes of getting it for a bit cheaper, and also ask what they do with the chicks that die soon after hatching.

I'm also signed up to get petsmart coupons on my three differant email acounts and my parents also get them. They recently sent out a $5 off any size purchase coupon. I was able to get 65 cans of SophistaCat food for a total of $5 after using the coupons
These are for the 'calf barn cats' - they are fed canned in the morning as I am not there and they get raw at night. The 65 cans will last around 22 days for them; there are eight cats at that place.

You definitely should buy all you want.

I caught a similar sale two years ago, food was ok, bags were ok, but had the old bag design, Petsmart wanted to blow them out.
I bought close to 100 pounds of dry food for under $60.
So glad I managed a bar and could utilize a walk-in cooler to store bins of catfood
