Adding a foster dog?

Thread Starter
I have been wanting a dog, but really can't aford one. I saw a photo of a dog on line today that needed a foster home. I contacted the rescue, and I am waiting to hear back. I'm just concerned about my cats. I'm wondering if there is any way to tell if my cats will tolerate a dog?

Well, the rescue or shelter you're in touch with should, with any luck, be able to tell you whether the dog gets along with cats, but I'm not sure how to tell how the cats will feel about it! (I don't currently have any plans to get a dog, but I do wonder how my cats would react if they encountered one. I'm pretty confident two of the three have never even seen a dog, so there's no telling!)

*Most* cats will adapt to having a dog in the household. As far as how your kitties will feel when you first bring a doggie home - I imagine they'll be unhappy at first. But - so long as the dog isn't aggressive or overly interested in the kitties, they often adjust to each other's presence.
