Question about Adobe

On my computer I have Adobe Acrobat5.0, Adobe Flashplayer 10 ActiveX, and Adobe Reader 7.0. I have been looking at it because I realize none of automatically gives me option to install updates.

1. Are all three necessary to run on my computer.
2. What can I delete and how can I get updates.

Only ActiveX is necessary. Flash is just for if you want access to flash media online, go to Adobe's site and download the update manually.

There are better PDF veiwers/software for Windows. Having not used Windows for a few years, and before that I didn't use Adobe for PDFs, I can't tell what is currently the best free no ad low resource secure veiwer/editor. However is you wish to stick with the resource hog with sercurity issues that is Adobe out of familiarity, you can simply update from their site. Acrobat, the editor, isn't free (unless that's recently changed), though.

That is all over my head.

You do not NEED Flash but some web pages will not load, at all, without them. From the perspective of a website designer, Flash is slowly being phased out with newer technologies. It is hard to say without a shadow of doubt if you need Flash due to how websites are coded.

If your computer has plenty of space they should be relatively small programs and you shouldn't feel the need to choose.

Maybe in preferences it should give you how to check for updates.

I finally got to talk to the person who keeps our computers up and running. He said leave the flashplayer since it is the latest update. We removed both versions of adobe reader, went to their website and downloaded the latest version. Now I am good to go.
