Killer Nip!

What is your cat's favorite catnip brand?

I'm kindof a cheapo, but I found this online and figured for the price I'd check it out: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002ASCSA

Called Cosmic Pet... woah, this stuff smells strong (pretty coarse as well compared to other stuff I got), and I filled up this little refillable plush cat toy thing with the nip and squished it real good to release the oils, woah! Kitties all rolling around and nomming on it, and I thought I'd pet them...

big mistake, they were all hugging my arm so tight and trying to nom on it, hah! Definitely recommend putting it in one of those toys though, so they don't eat it or start sneezing from inhaling the good stuff.

The best nip my cats ever had was the fresh stuff I used to pick out of the back yard when I still lived in Wisconsin. They went nuts over that stuff!

Abby loves most catnip. She doesn't like Hartz at all. I think I buy something called "Cosmo" or "Cosmic". I buy it at Pet Value. I don't have the container in front of me so I'm not 100% sure of the name. The leaves are crushed but not pulverized.

Spence and Katie don't seem to be too into catnip. I think Katie likes it more than Spencer. She sniffs it and rubs her whiskers in it, but Spencer sniffs it and walks away. Abby on the other hand rolls around and around in it.

petco carried a cheapy brand named pet gold. it came in a spritz bottle and my cats loved it. it's tough to find for some reason. the name was "catnip in a bottle" which made me hum the tune "message in a bot-tle"

Plain Brown Tabby's special mix called Alix's Valerian Blend. It was named after one of the beloved OTB cats from this site.

Wonder if you could just spray it on two cats that don't get along so they will love each other's smell.... JK!

Happy kitty 4/20 er'body.

Wonder if I should start growing my own, and some wheat grass or whatever that catgrass stuff is called.

So it still has the same potency when its not dried first?

from the way my 9 react to it i think it's even stronger before it's dried. if the plant is not disturbed they don't seem to be able to smell it.; but if one leaf gets 'nicked', it releases a skunky kinda of scent. and when that happens they can demolish a 2ft tall plant in no time by rolling on it, eating it etc in less than 1hr.
i got them a couple of those round wheels that have a ball on the outer side and the cardboard with the catnip in the center and whenever i change the cardboard i take it in the backyard an d toss the used catnip in the flower beds and it just re-seeds itself and they love it. whenever a plant gets big enough i cut some and dry it for the winter time or give to neighbors w/cats

The kids love the homegrown stuff, too.

I've used Cosmic Catnip, though, and they love that. All I have to do is get the container out of the pantry and Boo comes running into the kitchen. Somehow he knows the sound of that container.

Anybody ever try catnip-scented bubbles? I got some quite some time ago in a gift package from a friend and....OMgoodness!....the kids loved them! After dinner, I'd sit on the kitchen floor and open the bottle of bubble liquid and all the cats would come out to me. I'd blow bubbles and they'd chase after them, then sniff and roll around on the floor. Afterwards, I'd have to wash the kitchen floor, but it was worth for the fun the cats enjoyed.
