Hey everyone, this is my 4 1/2 month old kitty. He's very social and funny. We all
him very much! Sorry, a bit pic heavy!

What a gorgeous Red Boy. I know he's mostly white but a Red Boy is a Red Boy no matter how white.

I bet that coat takes a lot of brushing on your part!

Thanks everyone! He is such a sweet boy! If he is sleeping in a room and we all go to another room, he'll come strolling in a few minutes later looking like, 'hey, you didn't wake me up-what's up with that?'
His coat is actually very low maintenance and there is no problem with shedding, only a few strands here and there if you look hard. The only problem I had was when we first got him I put a collar-big mistake. His neck ruff began getting knotted under the collar and I ended up taking off the collar and cutting off two huge fur balls. But collar gone he's fine. Maine coons are pretty low maintenance. I brush him once a week .

He's only 4 1/2 months old. Kittens don't shed much. He will need more than once a week brushing when he gets a little older.

Stunning - just stunning!!

MCs are wonderful cats... friends of ours had two "failed" showcats... one passed from a heart condition... the other is still doing well at age 7. MCs b/c of their size don't usually live as long as smaller breeds or moggies.

Nah, MCs stay fairly low maintenance.
I have a wegie and they have the same coat, they only need more frequent combing when they blow their coat in the spring.

He is gorgeous, you don't often see red bicolors with a completely white head, very unique.
Is that classic tabby marking I see swirling around on his back?

Thanks everyone! Yeah unfortunately MCs are prone to HCM, but now a lot of breeders have started screening their studs and queens for one of the genes that cause HCM-but of course it's only one so it doesn't rule others out. I know ragdolls suffer from it also and I think Birmans.

Yeah, that's a tabby marking on the back, it's quite funny it's just on the one patch. And yeah, that's what I thought I have heard MCs are pretty low maintenance with the fur. I mean his fur is bushy but I haven't noticed any problems with it matting except when I had the collar on. We'll see!
