Looking for some help with my sick kitty

Currently my cat Sunny is lethargic and breathing sharp quick breaths. He is breathing through his nose and not panting. He has eaten a very small amount of food and drank some water but not much. He doesn't move and will urinate a little where he's laying but has not #2 in two days. He is responsive... purrs, wags his tail slowly and attempts to meow while being petted but won't move much if at all.

The last 5 days...

Friday afternoon Sunny was acting a little odd. I didnt think much of it. Seemed a little constipated and i figured he just ate something the kids threw on he floor. Later that night i found a few piles of diarrhea in my room. Looked around and found him hiding under the bed, when he wouldn't come out I attempted to grab him and he screamed... Never done that before. I got him out and I could tell he looked sick. I tired to pick him up and when I touched his back he hissed and screamed again. At that point I wasn't going to risk anything and called the 24 vet hospital....

Vet said his bladder was completely blocked and could not pee. He was extremely sensitive and would cry out anytime he was touched on the rear. Vet sedated him and ran a catheter and iv fluids. Catheter emptied his bladder and late Saturday he was peeing on his own. Was sent home Sunday with science diet c/d food, methigel for urine acidity and and clavamox antibiotic. Sunday night he was a little slow to move around but was happy and responsive using the litter box, eating and drinking a little too. Monday afternoon I found him breathing odd. There were multiple wet spots on the floor and it was obvious he was urinating on himself where he was laying. At this point I had given him the antibiotics and methigel 3 times. He was still purring and wagging his tail but was clearly very weak.

Tuesday (today) I took him to my regular vet. They took x-rays and found that his lungs could have some fluid build up and his heart was a little enlarged. Blood tests didn't show much. Vet gave him some diuretics and he did pee and drank some water so the bladder and kidneys seem to be ok. Vet suggested that the iv fluids could have shocked his heart or lungs and brought out underlying heart or lung troubles but that's just a guess and not treating him for that at this time.

As of now the vet and I don't know what the problem is. Sunny is normally a very energetic cat and only 6years old. Vet costs have hit four digits and I cannot afford to keep going back to the vet running test after test. He doesn't appear to be in pain just very lethargic.

Omigosh, I'm sorry your cat is going through this. Poor thing. What can they do to confirm he diagnosis/treat the fluid? Did they maybe recommend a specialist? I hope your cat gets better soon.

Woke up and found him gasping for air and trying to throw up but too week to do anything. Could feel a bad rattle in his chest when he tried to breathe and was almost completely limp when I picked him up. Was obvious he was in severe pain now. took him to the 24hr vet again and had to have him put down... he was too far gone.
RIP Sunny. we will miss you
