cat problem

Hi
I found this site while looking for cat repellents
From speaking to an animal behavourists, and reading reviews
I realise that many many people have problems with keeping other peoples cats out of their properties. Also the products available are largely INEFFECTIVE.
Many people in my road has more than 1 cat, I have 2 dogs in my back yard.
These cats come and walk on my vehicles on my property!, they come crap on my property as well
I now need to spend money on walls and cat rerpelling wiring contraptions because of other peoples pets.
I find it absolutely absurd that people are allowed to keep pets in an urban area that are so difficult to control!
I tried a local cat repellent but it just lead to some more scratches on my Avus Blue Metallic paint!
I love animals but cats seem more like pests than pets!
Just google and see how many people have this problem, I wanted to make a garden but they will just ruine it so
I now need to wait until I have my property walled in.
It will be easier than to freaken poisen the cats.
At least if they were strays I could get animal control to come and collect them.
It makes me angry when other peoples choices in pets leads to the distruction or meness of other peoples property.
If ur a cat lover great but make sure ur beloved feline isnt giving the people around u grief.

Can one of u cat loving ppl please advise on how to keep these things off my cars?

I think a garage is the only sure way to keep a cat off a vehicle.
But the plus side of that is that the vehicle is protected from hail and flying debris from storms (and disgruntled neighbors/theft/etc).

Motion sensor sprinklers can work for a front yard.

But there's a couple things cats love: soft tilled dirt and soft mulch. Limit these on your property.
In the case of a garden you can lay down old lattice (cats don't even like walking on it) and use garden wire. You have to cut sections of wire and bend the ends down so that when you place it on top of the soil it sticks up a couple of inches. Again, cats don't like to walk on this because they have nowhere to place their feet. I use both in my backyard to keep my own (fenced in, non free roaming) cats out of my garden.

Put your car in a garage or cover it up with a car cover. Personally, I don't think cats should be outside without their owners, for their own safety. But a lot of people do let their cats out, and, frankly, people have been doing so forever. That's not going to change. Your neighbors probably think your dogs are a nuisance. Maybe you should move.

This is The Cat Site. We are cat lovers here. Your crack about poisoning cats is about as offensive as one can get. Maybe that was your intention. Why not look for a cat haters' site?

I agree, perhaps covering your car or garaging it would be your best bet. Let's hope your neighbours don't find your dogs annoying and consider poisoning them. I personally don't think anyone should resort to poisoning any animal - what a horrible, slow death.

I can honestly say that having lived many years in the country with many cats roaming free, we never had an issue with cats sitting or getting on our cars.

There is not way to keep cats from getting on your property. Everywhere there are folks who allow their cats to roam freely. You either move your car inside or cover it. Cats cover up their business, dogs don't. Maybe you are dealing with dog poo, not cat. I agree, don't register on a cat lovers site and make remarks about poisoning cats. Lots of us have lost cats due to poisoning. It is not an easy thing to deal with. Your other solution would be to move miles away from any neighbors.

One of the reasons why I never let my cat roam the neighborhood is because of people like you. There's no telling what your anger, resentment and hatred of cats will lead to. Have some compassion. You shouldn't hate them; it's not their fault for having negligent owners.

Neighborhood cats walk on my car. I think it's cute to find slightly muddy paw prints, but that's just me. It doesn't hurt the car you know. The only thing that upsets me is finding a cat under the car seeking shelter from the cold and rain.

I do agree that cat owners shouldn't permit their cats to freely roam the neighborhood. Our backyard is walled-in and the neighborhood cats still manage to get over and in. I have to supervise my cat's playtime in his jungle because I know he'll encounter a stray or neighborhood cat if I don't.
