I hope our NC members are ok. The whole state had terrible weather and tornados yesterday.

I know blueeyedgirl lives in the eastern part, who else is in the area?

We're in the Piedmont. We had high winds and storms, but it wasn't as bad in our area this weekend as it was last. I was shocked to learn of the deaths in the Raleigh/Trinagle area. Thank you for asking. I hope the other NC members fine, too.

I'm worried about Barb (blueyedgirl). I know that she live in NC. I sent her a PM to see if she's okay.

I live outside of Raleigh, and some parts of the area got hit really bad. Where I am, we just had a little bit of storm, but other areas weren't so lucky. At one point when the first tornado was reported in Sanford (it leveled a Lowes store among other things) the tv was saying it was heading in our direction. I had the closet under the stairs cleaned out, the cat carriers in there, a radio, etc., but DH was upstairs in the bathroom. I kinda freaked, ran up there, knocked on the door, yelling at him to come downstairs and help me with the cats. I knew if I had to grab one of them and put them in a carrier, the other one would be long gone. I told him, I'm NOT going in that closet without both cats! (He wouldn't either) Turns out I was premature, and fortunately I took a wait and see attitude because it missed us. We did see some debris on our roof and some on the streets and other houses - I guess the storm was dropping debris as it went along. I hope to NEVER have anything like that go through this area again. I don't know how people can live in tornado alley, it was such a stressful day and my heart goes out to everyone who was affected by those tornados. Its absolutely gorgeous out there today.

Wow, that is scary stuff!! I e mailed Barb but maybe there is no electricity. I sent it last evening.....

A Lowes store, wow some heavy winds to do that.

Spring is such a volitile time. I hope that is the last of it. My daughter and her daughter just went from New York to Florida on Friday by train. They just missed it.

I hope the electricity is just off. I pray all are ok and for the people who died.

My prayer's go out to any NC members that were affected by the storm's. I live in Mayflower Arkansas, which is about 20 minutes from our state captial Little Rock Arkansas. They had a tornado friday that killed a mother and her 8 year old son after a oak tree fell on the little boy's bedroom, apparently the little boy was scared and the mother went to comfort him by laying in the bed with him there was an infant in the other room but it wasnt injured. 9 people total were killed in arkansas/oklahoma by the storm's friday, 2 set's of those were parent's with their children. So sad. My prayer's are with everyone.

Thank you all for you concern and prayers. All is well. There is a lot, a whole lot of damage in N. C. from the tornadoes. One did touch down near us. It fact it was too near. When we heard the roar, we got in the hall closet and put the sofa cushions on our heads. Our cats were inside in the garage. The power went out and stayed out. We went to bed by candlelight. We had some damage here. The twister came across some tree tops, the field and right across our back yard. It demolished the small building where our mower and yard tools are. It skirted the end of the house and leveled 7 wax myrtle trees that help to form a wind break from the field. They are ruined. 14 were unharmed. We had a martin box atop a pole in the yard and it is bent double. The burn barrel is out in the field. The doors to that little bldg were locked with a padlock. The wind blew it off the blocks, blew out the doors and put one across the road in the neighbor's horse pasture. A garden cart was sucked out from under the shed and pulled out to the middle of the yard, still standing on four wheels and undamaged. We have a lot of cleanup to do where limbs blew out of the oak trees. BUT, all the shingles are still on the house roof, no damage. Our barm behind the house sits right beside the little bldg that was destroyed, and it is undamaged. We are thanking God that all is well. There has been a state of emergency declared in some areas and some lost their lives, some their homes. Pray for all affected.

Stay safe!

My co-worker's son is in the Army and stationed at Ft Bragg in Fayettville. He and his wife have been married for about 6 months. They just bought a house and moved in about 6 weeks ago. Every tree on their property was uprooted. A tree fell on his truck and destroyed it. A tree landed on their house in their bedroom. There's water everywhere and they have no power. Thankfully, they were not home when the tornado came through. They are safe, have each other, and have a strong faith in God. They will overcome and come out better for this experience.

I am so glad that y'all are all okay, Barb, and that things weren't more serious than they were.

Many prayers and vibes going out to the less fortunate.

I'm glad your co-worker's family members are all fine, despite the property damage. I'm pretty sure are a couple of TCSers in the Fayetteville area; I hope they're OK, too.

I just learned about the details of the Lowe's event. The employees got everyone to safety in a matter of minutes. Truly remarkable. Lots of coping vibes for North Carolina and the other affected states.

A friend of mine lives in the town where that Lowes is located. Fortunately, she and her family are all okay. The tornado came within an arm's length of her brother's house, leveled her niece's business, and another family member has extensive damage on his farm. She said she knows someone who was in the Lowe's store. She also said there was at least one other person killed they didn't report, in a trailer, but no deaths in that Loews store so those employees and manager really are heroes. There's a video on Youtube of the tornado heading toward the Lowes. I just read that one of the employees had to stop and get an idiot who was taking video of the tornado and that the person got blown into the employee and both of them went flying. Its interesting to see the videos, but people are absolute idiots to think about taking pictures first and seeking shelter later - especially when someone else is trying to help you at the risk of their life!
