Licking Paint off Walls

Ugh... Wesley.

So, Wesley has just started to lick the paint off the wall above his perch, and its starting to damage it (yeah, part of the conditions of a life of luxury is not messin up the house butthead). Moreover, I don't know why he is doing it.

Apparently it can be a sign of anemia, but he's what I believe to be ideal proportions, and he has a plethora of quality food sources rotating constantly from Blue Wilderness dry to a dozen quality wet meals different every meal and his sister doesn't do this:

So the other thing can apparently be boredom, but he has his birds that he watches along w/ neighborhood action of the kids and cars and what not from all his perches, tons of toys, couple of trees, we play everyday 15mins, and his sister to play with.

He's otherwise his usual self, playful and cheeky and noisy, but my usual distractions and reprimands aren't working. Generally if he does something wrong, the instant he does it, I go "TSSSSS!!!! NO." in a loud tone, wait for him to do it again, and he figures out not to do it. The worst I've ever had to follow that is with a loud clap. He does the same with the licking, but starts right back up on it 15 seconds later when he knows I'm watching him, although he's usually obedient.

Before I start squirting his butt with water and repainting my wall, figured I'd ask for advice.

Cats are weird. Maybe try putting Bitter Apple on the spot? Or vinegar or hot sauce or something else he doesn't like the taste of.

If he gets really persistent about it, I'd have him checked out. Even with a good diet, some chronic health conditions can cause anemia and those should be ruled out.

Thats not a bad idea, its a matte tan paint finish, and unfortunately its all over the house but he prefers everywhere above his highest ledge.

The hot sauce would stain, vinegar I'm not sure, I don't have any bitter apple spray. Ideas what that apple would do on that kind of finish? I do have a mister, so perhaps that could get enough icky on there w/o detracting them from using their perch and not staining the paint.

Luckily the paint is water based and very thin coat (no lead of course its a new home), but long term it can't be good for him to ingest.

Bitter Apple comes in a spray bottle so that's taken care of. There are lots of brands, like Bitter Orange or Phooey! or Bitter Yuck. Usually in the dog section because, well, dogs chew more things than cats. It's not supposed to stain, but flat paint is such a pain; everything makes a mark on it. So no guarantees.
