And I am in love But he has me a little worried

Poor Oliver is sooooooo scared. I got him all set up in the bedroom last night. I had his litter box, food and water, cat tree, toys, bed, etc. I just opened the crate and thought I would let him come out on his own.

He never did So I took him out myself this morning, showed him food, water, litter box....and he ran under the book shelf and he's hiding under there. He lets me pet him but he is scared to death.

He hasn't eaten on 24 hrs now. The breeder never fed him yesterday....he hasn't eaten since he's been here.

I don't know what to do...he won't even respond to toys, he won't even look at them...I thought maybe he would atleast follow one with his eyes, but nope...nothing. I'm trying to be patient...but is this normal?

I never got any new pics yet, but here's the picture from the breeder just so you all know who I'm talking about

OK OK OK...*takes a big deep breath*
My oldest son Dakin slept in the same room as him last night and Dakin said Oliver came out, curled up by his neck and slept as Dakin petted him But when Dakin woke this morning he was back in his cage.

Also he is now under the bed, I think I made a big mistake by taking his cage away this morning when I took him out. I think I should have left it open for him to come and go so I'm going to set it back out for him.

Also I went in the room a few mins ago and noticed a little pile of pee in his litter box, WOOP WOOP!

Baby steps. BREATHE.

I wish I smoked, I could sure could use a smoke right about now

What a beauty! Oliver is gorgeous. As you said, take deep breaths and relax. Oliver will check out his surroundings in his own good time. Don't force it. After all, his entire world has changed and he's still unsure of what is going on. Sounds like he's already poking around. YES on the litter box! That is always a good sign. You don't smoke but maybe a cocktail will help your rattled nerves I just love your cat!

OK so I set the crate back up the way it was when I brought him home.
I pulled the bed out and got him out and he right back into his crate...I pushed the bed back and crawled in....LOL

I laid there with my eyes closed for a few mins when all of a sudden I could feel something on the bed moving, I opened them and he was slowly coming out...I talked to him "come on, baby, you can do it"....blah blah blah.
I slowly started petting him and HOLY CRAP he started rubbing, rolling, purring he couldn't get close enough, he would lay right on top of me, rub rub rub....sooooooo affectionate to the point I almost couldn't keep up with petting him, he was just all over me. My heart melted, I am totally head over heels in love with him...WOW

When he had enough he walked back into his cage and he's still there....but it's a start!

Oliver is such a beauty

Every cat needs some time to settle in, Mourek didn't eat on his first day home either. It looks like you are doing a very good job with the "baby steps"; keep it up

OH Oliver is soooooo gorgeous. And, so glad he is venturing out of that crate. This is to be expected and I bet by tomorrow he will be even more confident and in a day or two he will be bounding about the room!!! Have fun tonight with little Oliver
