There are large wildfires burning out near (30 miles or so) where I live. They've burned over 20K acres and destroyed 30 homes. A small town has just been told to evacuate.

The sky is smoky and has been all afternoon. I just looked out the window and noticed ash falling like snow in the backyard.

The wind is horrible. It will be almost impossible to get a handle on it until that settles. We need RAIN.

I feel so horribly for those people and animals affected by this. As if things weren't bad enough out here...

Vibes appreciated.

I guess that answers my earlier question as to whether Texans are getting this wind, too.
Are you getting the 60+mph gusts there?

I'm sure there's fires around here, though I haven't heard our fire engines go out... then again I can't hear much over the wind.

It's supposed to die down tonight/in the morning.

We're getting the smoke from both fires! There's the one out near where you are plus one up near Possum Kingdom Lake, which is northwest of Fort Worth. It's been so difficult for Mark to breathe this afternoon.

Stay safe!!

Yes, even here on the east side of the DFW Metroplex, we've gotten unbelievable wind the past few days, and some serious hail the other night, too. I can't imagine how scary it must be to live so close to the fires -- I hope you get rain before they come any closer!

OMG, that is awful. I will be praying for rain for you and watching the weather channel.

We are supposed to have wind today, and wind makes me so nervous with all the trees. But it is nothing compared to the fires.

Stay safe friends!

Hope everyone has been evacuated and is safe, along with the animals in the area.

We once had a wildfire in the house in front of mine, no one knows how it started, but We called 911 until we saw it started burning down a small shed ,and getting bigger.

Thanks everyone.

It's less smoky this morning, and less windy, but there's a lot of ash on the ground. I'm hoping they can get them under control today.

My daughter is helping with an Easter Brunch/egg hunt up at church today, and is going to be outside all morning. She has allergies/mild asthma so I hope she does OK. She took some preventive measures before she left the house.

Maybe things will get better SOON.

The wind picked up again this afternoon, and so did the fires. They are evacuating another town right now.

It may take 2 mos to get these under control. No rain in sight....
