Bonjella for Cats?

Hi All,

Has anyone heard of or tried Bonjella for cats with sore gums?

Some of my cats have sore, inflammed gums, and whilst the Vet is organizing the special anti-inflamatory cream and medicines for them, she has recommended that I use Bonjella cream.

She said, that although it's not prescribed for cats, that it doesn't harm them. She said, that they don't like the smell or the taste but if you're game enough to try putting it on their gums, that it can really help with the soreness in the interim.

I tried this tonight, and I felt so mean with the reactions it got. My cats really, really did NOT like it. But, if it helps with the soreness (and we all know how cats are good at hiding discomfort) and encourages them to eat and drink more, then, it's a needed evil.

Has anyone ever heard of this or used it? I wouldn't be doing it if the Vet hadn't recommended it.

I honestly haven't heard of giving it to cats?. I have Bonjella cool which is supposed to not sting much as the ordinary, but it does

How long will it take for their cream to arrive?

I have heard of bonjela but it contains salicylates and I don't think that is safe for cats. I think in very small quantites it is safe, but I would not use it on my cats.

It will take a week for their cream to arrive.

S's gums are a bit swollen and sore at the moment whilst we wait for the cream which is why the Vet recommended the Bonjella whilst we wait, to relieve some of it in the interim.

She's been very cautious and slow eating and prefering the softer premium pet mince that they get daily over the nutrient rich premium dry food that I also feed them.

I've started giving them some kitten dry food as a supliment as well, because it has smaller kibbles and she likes that as well.

I've noticed, since I used a small ammount last night, her gums aren't as red and she seems a lot brighter, alert and in general a lot happier. S

o I suppose, in the interim, if the vet recommends it and she has, until the cat cream arrives, I'll use it in small doses to relieve any interim discomfort.

I just found it really interesting which is why I posted it here.

I am sure that would be just fine in very small amounts because it will work for the pain. Hope your kitty is feeling better tonight
