I was given a jewellery box at Christmas that was pretty, but not my style. Eventually when I decorate my bedroom I want a semi Japanese theme, so I've been using bamboo steamers stacked up as my jewellery boxes.

I gave the jewellery box to a co-workers daughter who is 10 years old. She was thrilled! She's at the age where she really likes to wear and collect jewellery and she had a little girl type box. So now she has a grown up box with doors and drawers etc.

Her dad delivered an envelope to me today. Inside was a package of Deco papers that I can use to make cards, write letters etc. And a pretty handmade thank you card. The paper has all kinds of pretty prints, some cat themed.

She's such a cutie! She knows I like cats, so every time they go out she makes her dad by me something cat related!

That is so sweet. And very well mannered of her to send a thank you card. So many kids forget things like that.

Getting a gift like that is something special for a child. It's an article that represents adulthood, that little girls identify with, like walking in mommy's high heels. That jewelry box will be her prized possession all her life.

She may cherish it for years and give it to her daughter as a heirloom. Just watch...pretty soon there will tear jerker movie about a little girl and her jewelry box.
