often it's orange juice. sometimes a piece of fruit to go along with it. the other day i put some turmeric powder into orange juice because i read turmeric is good for health. oh goodness, it tasted awful. i had to chase it down with pure oj
Most of the time I have Total cereal and fruit. I don't really like it, but it provided one hundred percent of daily iron. I have problems keeping my iron up where it needs to be.
Save the loose powder turmeric for cooking. If you want to take some for your GI check local stores, or a health food store if you have one, for capsules of it.
If I'm up fairly early the first thing I grab is a pepsi.
Yes, I know. Really healthy. Later I'll have a V8 (recently addicted to those things) and if up for a few hours will have an appetite for actual food and will see what I can dig out of the fridge for the least amount of cooking effort.
I usually buy a bunch of bananas when I go to the grocery store on Saturday. For the first 3-4 days of the work week, I'll eat 1 or 2 bananas for breakfast each morning. Once they're gone, I'll usually eat a couple of those Special K breakfast bars for my breakfast. I take my breakfast with me and eat it at work, so it's got to be something easily portable. On weekends, when I eat breakfast at home, I tend to have something like a sausage biscuit, toaster strudels, or a bowl of grits. In the Summer, I'll probably have a bowl of cereal instead of the grits. Every once in a while, I love to go out to someplace like IHOP and indulge in a really big breakfast (even if it's not breakfast time.) I like to have eggs, bacon, and pancakes when I do that.
Coffee: President's Choice Espresso Roast, fresh ground every morning. Maybe some toast mid-morning, but rarely unless I have to spend the day driving tractor.
There are only 2 things I eat in the mornings on a regular basis: an "egg McMuffin" (a pre-made microwave egg, cheese, and Canadian bacon English muffin, either Wal-Mart brand or Smart Ones) with mustard or a peanut butter sandwich and a banana. I always have some degree of "morning sickness" (if I ever get pregnant it'll be a disaster!) and those are the only things I can stomach first thing in the morning. I might have a glass of milk if I have it available, but fruit juice doesn't settle well. I don't drink coffee in the morning, only as a pick-me-up in the afternoon.
If I'm at a hotel with a big breakfast, or if I'm up early and go to a restaurant with friends, I go wild! Bacon, eggs, hash browns, oatmeal, pancakes. . .but I've usually been awake for a while at that point so the "morning sickness" has passed.
Fairly often, especially if I go into the office in the morning, we'll grab a Tim Hortons coffee & 12 Grain Bagel toasted with butter & light cream cheese.
If I eat at home it's usually either whole wheat toast or oatmeal & yogurt.
It varies. Sometimes it is McDonald's oatmeal, sometimes a reduced fat blueberry muffin from Dunkin Donuts, and iced coffee. Sometimes it is cereal or yogurt.
