canine kennel cough?

Thread Starter
i tried searching google but it seems still a bit unclear for me...

im about to foster a dog who is coming from the vet after being treated for kennel cough.

luckily my cat is currently at my parents house and he will stay there...but if i visit my parents or something how contagious is kennel cough to my cat?

i dont want to risk passing anything.

the foster lady told me that it wasnt contagious to felines, but i doubt that.
opinions/suggestions or experiences?

Bordetella bronchiseptica can affect cats, and in a percentage of them lead to bronchial pneumonia, asthma or bronchitis (As can other respiratory infections. But it is actually noted as a cause for asthma and bronchitis specifically). I've even come across info that there have been a few cases of it infecting humans.

Are you 100% sure the dog has bordetella? If not, have them test for it. If so, definitely isolate the dog until it's completely over the infection.
