If this comes out as a picture (drrr), has anyone ever seen a horse this Champaigne colored? I was a awe when I was roaming the net. It's Beauuuuuuuuuuuuuutiful! Makes me want to just go out and get a horse! (Forget the Cowboy! lol)

The website it's on is on Craigslist in my County:

For all you horse lovers out there (I'm one, too, but always had to "borrow" my best friend's ponies when we were little and horses when we got older), is this odd for a horse to be such a rich champagne color?

(I'm sooooooooo in
with this horse).

Not if they are breeding cremello and palaminos, this is a typical color for these types of "breed."

Gorgeous Boy!

Thats a coincidence because my dh had a stallion named Chip too! He loved that horse.

Why don't you try looking into a lease? They are quite popular around here. Some even are free.....one was ride free of charge 3 times a week just to keep the horse in condition.

Sigh.......I wish we had a nice barn.

It's just amazing I've never seen a horse in this powerful of a color. When I was young I used to ride a 17-hand high horse named Champagne and, well, he was similar in color (maybe just dirty 'cause I rode him so much), but this horse, I swear, looks like it's been to the Champagne spray-tanning booth to include shimmer! Even the tail?!!!!!

I barely make it right now keeping the cats in their expensive ways (lol) and extra I need to save for vet bills and meds for special needs cats.

Boy, if they let someone ride that horse for free I'd be all over it! I do live in horse country (on the country side... we have surfer-Pacific Ocean side and we have Farmer, Ranch totally country side and a couple little towns in bewteen and lots of rolling hills. ahhhhhh

But yeah, because they are breeding the horse (I believe that's what they said), I feel doubtful I'll get any free rides on that one. Plus I loooooooove to ride bareback and a lot of people don't want someone riding bareback on their horse.

Almost bought an Arabian when I got a big settlement from a lawsuit (lots of Arabians here), but realized that money wasn't going to last forever with the boarding and upkeep and I had my cats, etc. I was so bummed.

ANYwaaaaaaaaaaaaay . . .

I rode for about 5 years until I broke my ankle, after it was "fixed" I went back to riding and continued for another 5 years until I just couldn't take the pain when my ankel was in the stirrup anymore

The first horse that I ever took lessons on was an 18h bay coloured horse, he was beautiful. His owner let the stable use him for lessons so that she'd get free board, she always said he liked scotch mints and imported beer, lol.

My heart horse was an ex thoroughbred racer named Jake. We were the same age
He was chestnut coloured and an absolute love, but the owner and I were the only ones that could ride him. He was very spooky and you had to keep him on the bit if you were riding outside of the fenced area, most of the people there couldn't keep him on the bit. I would go out into the pasture and call him, he'd come running over to me, causing a stampede along the way, lol. Other times I'd walk over to him, give him a quick brushing and then slip my lead onto his halter like reins and ride him to the barn, he was such a good boy for me. If he was being used in lessons while I was there, I couldn't be in the barn while he was being groomed or within eyesight of the ring while he was being ridden, he would kick or buck and come running over to me.

Unfortunately, the lady that ran the stable and owned Jake had some family problems and had to sell a lot of the horses and move. She kept Jake with her and would call me and pick me up to go out and ride with her quite often, we lost touch though and I don't know where either of them are now

Ah geez,

What a beautiful story about you and Jake!! Thanks so much for sharing that!

I felt I was right there every step the way you explained everything.

If it's meant to be, you and Jake will be reunited!!

So sorry you guys lost touch for now, but I know he's thinking about you as you are him!!

Warmly,

Julie O'

18H, Yeahhhhhhhhhhh, I LOVE the tall ones!!

Looks cremello to me. I don't think the champagne gene exists in QH and until recently, they weren't registering double dilutes. Unless it is a young horse, it is awful butt high, and in combination with flat withers, would not be a fun ride. Sorry to burst your bubble.
BTW, the advert is itself is gone, says flagged for removal.

Ah poo!

So much flagging going on here in our County! Our own little "Craigslist Police". (Breeding for $$ is against the TOS). I've been flagged for putting stuff I try to sell in the wrong category, but it could have been in either.

Cremello, I like that name for a color! I guess I said "Champagne because that's the closest color I could think of, and I remember riding this families' horse named Champagne who was pretty much the same color (another place my maw sent me to live, except this was the best place! She sent me anywhere whenever she saved enough of my dad's child support to take a trip to Hawaii and a couple times took the rest of my siblings, but never me. Running that Cremello horse 100 miles down the beach would feel really good about now! (well, maybe more at sunset time). Man, those were the days!

No bursting my bubble, but thanks for your concern, lol. If I rode now like I used to ride, I would be in the hospital within 1/2 hour with broken hips, neck and other on-the-bring degenerated parts of my body.

Warmly,

Julie O'

Champagne is an entirely different colour with mottled skin on the muzzle and other thinly haired areas where cremello is pink on those areas and the palomino has dark muzzle, etc; the colour between the two can be so hard to define that only looking at the muzzle and other areas is the telling thing. Champagne CAN look similar but have the mottling and the eyes are hazel rather than brown or blue as in cremellos.

There are as many colours in the horse world as in the cat world and I find colour genetics fascinating although I prefer my horses bay or brown. If you are interested, I have a number of equine colour links.

Thank you SO much!! I saved them and will look at them later (having people over at 10:30 and just got up; have to dole (doll?) meds to the special needs', clean poop-stations (Yes, I have names for them; Poop Station #1, Poop Station #2, etc. . . . and then there's the "Poop Deck" which is my deck where I throw the night poop (in a bag) until morning 'cause of all the steps. hehe

Again, thank you so much! I so look forward to checking the color stuff out!!

Yippeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Warmly,

Julie O'

There is a horse, QH, at my barn and my friend owns this horse. His name is Sundance and he is exactly the same color of the horse in your photo. Not sure what the color is but it is tan? with the flaxen mane/tail. Very pretty color.

Ahhh, must be awesome seeing the QH every day. You have your own barn?

I want to live waaaaaaaay out in the country with horses and chickens and a couple roosters, my indoor cats, I would save all the ferals from the shelter in my big barn {{{{{sigh}}}}}}

OH NO
, just have had a horse for over twenty years and call the boarding barn, my barn
. I don't own a horse at the moment, but still go to the barn and ride and help my friends with some training in Dressage. Yes, that QH, Sundance, is a beauty for sure.
