Hey there, I don't know it any one has an answer but, my siamese cat broke her front right paw's toe roughly six years ago. She's about 9 now. And she's begun limping and holding her paw up when its really cold. Does anyone know how I can help lessen her pain without drugs?

Hi welcome to TCS. She might have arthritis in it. But that would of course take a Vet to determine that. I know that they do laser therapy treatments on arthritis with very good luck. And no medicine necessaey and its not expensive. Not every Vet knows about it, but you can find out, I found one not too far from me for my cats Cystitis. He gets 6 sessions. Someone might also come along that knows some supplements that could help. Good Luck.

Hi there! Welcome, and lots of for you and your sweet kitty.

I don't know much about treating things like that, but I would say asking your vet is a good idea.

Again- welcome!

Glucosamine and omega 3 fatty acids can both help, you would still need a consultation with your vet for proper dosages and sources.

And heat always helps joint pain and stiffness.

You can buy or make the poor girl a heat pad to curl up with.

In the U.S. a supplement called Cosequin is sold for pets with arthritis. You do need to confirm that is what is going on with a vet. I know that acupunture is used for dogs but I don't know if it is used for cats.

Thank you guys. I was trying to avoid the vet because the poor dear is very fragile as it is and they usually need to do blood tests and such which leave her traumatised. Unfortunately it seems I may have to do so.

The heating pad tip is wonderful. Thank you very much. With winter fast approaching its a really good idea.

I suppose I should mention that we don't have much cutting edge medi-care for pets here in South Africa, unless of course you're prepared to take three mortgages out on your house. But please keep the tips comming. They are very helpful. I'll be sure to ask about all these options. Thank you!
