Little Louie needs a new home.

Hi guys,

Some of you might have read my previous post, an I am here to tell you that Little Louie is getting much better.
Thanks to the help of my boyfriend a few other friends I was able to get him into a service here (PAWS www.paws.org) to get him spayed and vaccinated.

I am hoping there is someone in the Seattle, or general Washington area who would like to give him a new home.
He is a wonderfully sweet kitty who needs just a little more time and space than I have to offer.

Also, due to a career move I've recently taken on, I will be moving more than 2000 miles away. I know that Louie would not fare well with over 33 hrs in a car. So I am reaching out to this community to see if anyone is interested in taking him home.

He is about a year and a half old now. Spayed and fully vaccinated (I have all current documents) as well as microchipped.

If you have any interest please let me know.

Thank you!

Mega vibes for Louie to find his furrever home.

Cats usually do better with a 33-hour drive with the people they know rather than going to a new family and having to get used to everyone. Just sayin'.

(Also, if you make up posters or post an ad somewhere, male cats are neutered, girls are spayed . Don't want to confuse anyone!)

I hope everything works out well for you and Louie.

I hope you are able to find Louie a good home soon

Willowy - There are many minor factors into my decision to find him a new home.
A) Due to the sheer cost of the move, I'm not able to bring either of my cats. As it stands I have a family member who has volunteered to take care of my older cat as she has lived with them in the past.
B) Louie needs to be with a family who can let him outside. My job tends to keep me in the middle of downtown areas where that is not possible.

And sorry about the Spay/Neuter mix up.. I always get them backwards

Thanks for the good vibes everyone

This makes me very upset. That is all I will say as I will surely be given another warning if I continue.

My then 18YO friend moved her cat-it was a 26 hour trip in ideal conditions that turned longer.

In the end since your moving so far have you thought of posting in areas on the way? I have many cats and quite a few just sit there and purr on trips. Sure I have the I WANT OUT OF THIS CAGE ones to

No cats "have" to be let outside. They live very content, happy, healthy, and SAFE long lives staying inside. There are continuous threads on this forum and others about cats who were let outside and met untimely and sad ends.

This is your cat. He is relying on you for everything. Please reconsider what your responsibilities to him are.

As far as a long car trip, cats survive them just fine if proper arrangements are made. There are frequently threads here regarding that. I've taken cats cross country several times myself. But I would never think of leaving them behind.

The shelters are full of pets that people left behind. It is not easy to rehome a cat.

A inside cat is much safer then being let outside. If thats you main concern about why you have to rehome him then keep him and don't worry about him having to be outside. He will live a safer healthier life inside.

Oh dear, actually Louie probably would just get lost if he goes to someone who will let him outside. He won't know the territory and will try to leave and find his comfort zone territory. That would be a disaster for his health and safety. He would be just fine living a life inside and would adjust perfectly. It is usually the people who think this is cruel. I have indoor only cats and they still meow and cackle at the windows and doors at birds and bugs, but I don't let then out, ever. As far as the car ride, absolutely no problem whatsoever. I have moved cross country many years ago with three cats, about 24 hour trip with a stay-over at a hotel (that allowed pets) and they did just fine!!! Maybe Louie could stay with you and your journey??? Good luck with everything

I wish I knew where that old wives tale of cats being happier outside came from. That belief has taken the lives of million of cats.

It isn't true!!!!

This is 2011, the millenium! These beliefs need to be put to rest. Please, people, keep your cat inside!

"B) Louie needs to be with a family who can let him outside."

General Lifespan of Outdoor Cat: 4-6 years

General Lifespan of Indoor Cat: 15-20+ years

If you'll have absolutely no time whatsoever to give basic needs to your cats (which is something that should have been considered before ever adopting as this is traumatic on the cats to separate from you and they'll never be the same), then I believe they do belong in a home that will gain their trust, eventually, after this traumatic event of abandonment of your love, and I would just add to make sure you find someone that will keep precious Louie INDOORS and NOT outdoors.

He won't be alive by the time you get to your newfound destination.

I also did a 21 hour trip with 5 (large) dogs and 3 cats one time, and 1 of those cats had never met the other ones. They were far more bored than stressed by the trip. They were happy to get into a larger space once we arrived at our new home. Don't let the fear of moving them cause you to rehome them.

I'm going to keep this brief.

I am not taking him with me. I have found a group that rehomes cats in the local area. If they are unable to rehome him within a reasonable amount of time they will contact me to retrieve him..

I have to say I am truely disappointed in this website. I did not come to the conclusion to rehome Louie lightly. To be scolded and given nothing but grief is sad.

Yes.. it's 2011. But when louie does everything in his power to get outside then what am I to think?

I am sorry you feel that way. You have to understand that we have seen and lived through terrible things happening to cats outside. Awful, awful things. Hearts have been so broken here, loosing our kitties. Our wonderful little friends who deserved a better fate than they received.

A two year old child wants to go outside too. But, we are their protectors and it is our job to see they are safe. I would not let my cat outside, anymore than a two year old child.

Louie, in time, with the right stimulation inside, would adjust. Outdoor enclosures are an option. You are the boss, Louie will just have to tough it out. Or would you rather find him on the side of the road? Which, sadly, I forsee. Nothing good will come out of him being out.

Again, sorry you are disappointed. The only time I would let my cat out is when I decide that it is time for him to be exposed to cars, cruel people, other animals, disease, cold, heat. All kinds of diseases from other animals. Needless to say, that time will never come for my kitties.

Please don't make this Louies time for that.

Moondio has been trying to "get rid of" Louie for almost a year. It's sad, but probably better for Louie that he no longer live with someone who dislikes him so much.

The other, senior, cat is also losing or has lost her home.

Moondio I hope you will think long and hard after your move, before adopting any more animals, and then not do it. Disposing of them for your own convenience when your life changes is really not the right way to treat animals.

Yes to all that, especially the part about never getting another pet. We can only hope and pray.

This is THE CAT SITE! We're for cats here. We care about their welfare. Don't "scold" us for that. I care a heap more for any cat's wellbeing than any person's convenience. You say you don't give up Louie "lightly," however the reasons you gave are quite light.

I don't know what you expected when you posted this in the first place. Did you think people here would approve of this? I feel very sorry for your cats. I sincerely hope they find a better home.

I pray right here, right now that you, Jehovah take over the care of precious Louie who wants only for lifetime love, caring, food, water and lots of cuddles and toys and a comfy indoor home where he will be adored. I ask that you find him this home today - and that the family that will bring him into their family treat him the way you and your beloved son, Jesus Christ would treat him - as the beloved being that he is. I pray these things in the name of your beloved only begotten son's name, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Forever home to you, Louie - we all love and care for you on the cat site here, and so does the one true God, Jehovah and the one son he made in his own image (personality-wise), Jesus Christ. You, Louie, are truly loved here and everywhere.

tis why we, the humans, were born with the opposable thumbs, and cats, were not. Because cats do not realize that they can go outside and get squashed by a car, or poisoned, or lost. Just saying. But glad you are trying to find him a home who will love him.
