Hello about a month ago I took in pregnant stray. Last tuesday she lost what I I'm pretty sure was her mucus plug. Then five days passe I started to get worried then yesterday she lost what appeared to be another mucus plug. Can they lose the plug in parts? Both looked like what I have seen for the whole mucus plug on other cats. Or did she have two plugs because she mated twice with different cats at different times? I can still feel the kittens move and she is about is very large. I can actually sometimes feel the whole kitten inside of her and feel the paws and such. When will she go? I took her to the vet about a few days before she lost her first plug. His x-ray was broken But he said any day she should have them. Checked her out and left me with one large bill to pay. So I am asking here for advice because I would rather not take her back in if she does not need to go.

I'm confused. Did you not just have a cat that gave birth to kittens? How many pregnant cats do/did you have?

I think it might be your username. Someone called "bobtailover" also just had a pregnant stray give birth so folks may be confusing the two of you just as I did.

Hang in there and someone will be along.

I myself have never heard of a cat losing their mucus plug in parts, but what I know, even if she did mate twice, all of the kittens are usually delivered at the same time. If you can still feel the kittens moving and there are no visible contractions, you can probably wait a little while before going to the vet.
The only thing that is worrying me is that the kittens might be late, since you said you can even feel their paws. That can make delivery very hard, and in some cases a c-section is needed. How long have you felt them moving for?

2 and a half weeks is a long time. Usually the rule of thumb is 2 weeks. The longest I've had was 16 days, and the kittens were very big, and there was some difficulty with the delivery. I know you don't want to take her into the vet, but my advice for you would be to at least call them and ask what they recomend. I'm just worried that the kittens for whatever reason are not being delivered, and they just keep growing. The longer time that she holds them, the more likely a c-section is going to be needed, and that won't be cheap either
My suggestion is that you explain that you don't have a ton of money to spend, but you really want to help this stray. Vets become vets because they love animals, so many would be willing to at least lower the costs.
Good luck!
