Hey folks,

I can call a cat since 10 years my own (female, some crossbreed, I'd never had much interest in truebred cats). She's the "a cardboard boxes are there to sleep in" type. Like many people who get a cat for the first time, I remember I thought that I could educate her in some way, but of course I was at a total loss. My sweetheart educated me more than anything, to serve her well

Well so here we go, I am already looking forward to share stories here

Welcome, and congratulations on your new kitty! How wonderful and exciting for you

It is amazing how the cats always end up being the ones to teach us new things (and often teach us things about ourselves we never knew). What is your cats name? Any photos? I share your feelings on the 'purebred' thing, whenever I hear people discussing how they want to get a certain breed of cat for x reasons I can never help but mentally compare the discussion to 'I want to adopt an Asian baby because they will be ubersmart' or 'I want an African baby because they will be a whiz at basketball!' (and forgive my lack of political correctness, I don't think these statements are valid at all, I am just trying to demonstrate the absurdness I feel at some generalized statements relating to cats and breeds - that being said I do adore the way some breeds look, Siamese cats in particular). I always get a little happy inside when I meet people who choose cats based on personality rather than breed, so it's very nice to meet you.

If you were serious about wanting to 'educate' your kitty - it's worth looking into clicker training. It's an extremely easy way to teach and communicate with your cat, and will help you guys bond even more closely. There are quite a few online resources if you are inclined to look.

Welcome again, and I look forward to hearing your stories!

Welcome. We seem to be getting a lot of new members lately, and it is good to have you here. Those little fuzzies can train us humans well, cant they?

I am sure I speak for all of us that we look forward to getting to know both of you.
