Kitten with no ankle bones?!

Thread Starter
I just noticed an add on kijiji stating this family had a kitten that was born with no ankle bones. Has anyone ever heard of something like this? I replied to the ad, as I would LOVE to take in this poor thing. Ever since Zorro died, I have been searching for a special needs cat and this kitten just seems to be the one I've been looking for. I really hope he hasn't been re-homed yet.

Here's a picture of the kitten.

I've never heard of this either. Has the kitten gone to see the vet?

I hope you're able to get him....he is adorable

I'm not sure if he has been to the vet or not. I sent the person an e-mail and hopefully ill get a response. I hope they send a response today.

Me, too! I wanna see if you get him!

What a cutie pie. I can see why you have fallen in love.
You might want to call your vet's office and ask about the condition to see if there might be other genetic or mutation issues or at the very least they will be prepared for the kittens first exam.

Sending TCS vibes that you receive an reply right away.

Thanks everyone. Still no replies yet. I really hope they respond. The kitten may just have a ligament issue that can be fixed, which is why I'd like to get him and have him checked by a vet.

Maybe if you e-mailed them again and told them what you want to do...
that little kitten would be so lucky to be adopted by you.

I plan to e-mail them again tomorrow if I dont have a response by then. They say the kitten cannot leave for another 4 weeks as its only 4 weeks old right now, so I know they still have it.
Hopefully, if they have not found a home for him, they'll let me take him early to get him into the vet. I know weaning early is not recommended, but if its a ligament issue, the younger he is, the better the chance the vet will be able to fix it.

I'll be watching for the news that this little one will be yours.

She wrote me back saying they were taking him to the vet on tuesday and she will know more then. Appartently he can walk, but not very well.
I asked if I could have him sooner than a month from now. I know taking them away from the mother before 8 weeks is not the best, but the younger he is, the easier it usually is to fix certain leg issues. He's 4 weeks old now, so hes almost weaned, and I do have two cats for him to learn behaviour traits from.
Hopefully she will let me take him.

He is super, super cute... having a cat with mobility issues, I can assure you that they are just as wonderful and loving as any other cat. Good luck!!

It's a fixable condition, whatever happens! So sweet of you to be willing to take him! for the baby!

Still no reply. The ad has been removed from kijiji as well. I'm not sure if this is because they are not rehoming him, or if I'm getting him. I plan to e-mail them this afternoon if I havnt gotten a reply by then to see what's going on.

You're not the only one! That kitten has such a sweet little face and I want to see him go to a good, loving home. I'll anxiously wait with you!

I got a reply!!! She took down the add because she was getting too many e-mails, which is also why it took her so long to reply. She said she would speak with her mother (this was the daughter) to see if I may be able to take the kitten early. I'm so excited!

I have no doubt that you would be the best choice for this special kitten.

Major TCS vibes are on the way that "Mom" says....yes!

I hope she says yes as well. I am a little worried though because apparently they are taking him to the vets sometime today, and I hope the vet doesn't suggest they put him down. I explained to her that this may happen, and that I don't think that he should be pts because of this, but you never know.

Sending vibes that this sweet kitten gets a chance at life.

Well, I got good news and bad news. The vet said that the kitten just had to grow into his legs, and would be perfectly fine except for a small limp in a few months time. This means that the people are going to give him to the family they promised him to before they found out about the issue. Thats ok though, I'm just glad that his legs will be ok.
I asked her exactly what they vet said was wrong, just for my own knowledge, hopefully I'll hear what the problem was.
I am sorry that this sweetie pie will not be coming to your home but at least the current care givers have been careful to be sure the little one will be OK.

Somewhere out there, now or in your future, you and a little fur ball will meet and that will be that....love at first sight.

Just be sure to let us know when it happens.

I saw that ad too. They are located in the same place I live. I fell in love with that little face...but I am glad the cat is expected to recover

Glad the kitten will be alright and recover. Don't worry, the right kitty will come into your life and need your care. There are sooooooo many out there in need of someone like you
