I know nothing about fax machines.
If I fax something to someone, can they tell where (the place of business) it was sent from?

You are required to have the outgoing number on the fax. But you can also sign up for internet fax services that don't require a fax machine. Most services have a 30 day free trial. You send the fax through your email and on the other end it comes out just like a fax.
The services run from $10.00 a month to even free (but with ads on the coversheets). http://www.efax.com/ http://www.myfax.com/ http://faxzero.com/ http://www.gotfreefax.com/ |

I need to fax a job application and possibly a resume and/or cover letter. The easiest access I have to a fax machine is at the school where my aunt works. Do you think there would be a problem if I faxed the application from there (I know the school employees won't mind)? I don't know if the employer would frown upon that or not. On the other hand, since I don't have any non related references, maybe it would be a good thing.

One thing about fax machines is even if you get a confirmation that it went through does not mean it actually went through. It could have come through garbled on the other end.

Ohhhh, you'll need non-related references; can you have a couple of teachers and maybe a counselor from school (or the principal) write you letters of reference? (If so, make a LOT of copies for future interviews). In my job when I used to work, we could not include family or friends as references at all.
