My little one had her 2nd cold last week and apparently she is also suffering from some minor seasonal allergies. This morning I noticed her humidifier is leaking! It's only the 2nd spell we have used it for. I've had it on all week for her and I think it did this one other time earlier this week. I thought she had bumped the tank but now I've read reviews online and most people have had this problem with it.

I don't want her to have to go without it tonight with her head being stuffy; so I just put a towel on the floor. I got it at Walmart kind of in a hurry the first time she was sick. Now I'm wondering what to do!

Most of the reviews I'm reading online are mixed. Some people love each one and some people hate each one. It's not making it easier to choose! Also; cool mist or warm? Sometimes all these choices just make things more difficult!

I have a warm mist made by Sunbeam (I think that's the brand name). I love it, BUT I have burned myself on it when I was sick. I had something awful and was basically in bed the entire time. I got up to go to the bathroom and bumped my foot on the side of it, the steam burned part of my leg badly enough that it blistered and scarred a bit.

At work, we sell two brands mainly - our own brand and Sunbeam, both are made by the same manufacturer. We also sell other brands during peak times (basically the start of cold and flu season) but the ones made by Sunbeam are rarely returned.

We always recommend cool mist humidifiers for customers that are using them with children - the reason being so that they don't get burned from the water or the mist if they get too close.

The main differences - warm mist humidifiers tend to be easier to breathe in when close to the humidifier. They also tend to be a bit quieter than cool mist humidifiers, they also tend to be a bit more energy efficient.

Thanks for the advice! I'm deffinitely going the cool mist route for her room. I probably should for my own since I cant see much without my glasses; like middle of the night potty runs!

That's exactly why I tripped over mine and burnt my leg... although it was definitely my fault because I had it on the floor beside my bed so that I could kind of hang over the side of my bed and breathe it in if I had to. I know now that next time I get that sick to put it on my nightstand.

The burn scar is very light now, but it's also been about a year and a half. Dealing with a burn like that and being sick is not something that I would wish on anyone, it was absolutely horrible.

Glad I could help a bit

I like the cool mist, though I don't have one at the moment. I paid over $40.00 for what I thought was a really good name brand but it lasted almost no time. It was a nice one, too, easy to clean and fill. And it had a pleasing blue nightlight. Sigh.
