Awwwwwww, need some adoption vibes!!!

As some of you might remember I posted about my BIL's loss of his precious "boy" Bagel here: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...ighlight=Bagel . The grieving process has been hard and apparently he has been looking at Petfinder...so you know what THAT means. LOL

He texted my dh about a little beauty yesterday and asked how far this was from us. Well, it's NOT FAR and we're going to meet her this weekend. If she seems like a good match for them we'll probably bring her home shortly and then he can come from California and take her home with him. Here she is: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/1...og-Burleson-TX

Please, if you can spare some vibes that this is a fit! Martin is THE BEST dog owner in the world and is really suffering without one right now.

Thanks,

Cally

"Annabelle was going to be shot by her owner because she "wasn't working out" as a working dog."

Sheesh, glad the neighbor stepped in. She is a beautiful dog and I hope all goes well, her sad face is heart breaking, she needs a good owner!

I know. It's not uncommon to "solve problems" with a gun where I live. Can you even imagine? We are all so bonded to Annabelle just from looking at the photos. Sometimes, you just KNOW and I so hope we are right!!!!

Oh I hope she goes to Martin. I have no doubt in the world he is a wonderful owner.

What a sad face, but hopefully it won't be that way very much longer. Please keep us updated.

I believe it - as horrible as it is. I live in Texas, too.

I sure can relate to "knowing" when it feels "right". That's how I felt about BlackJack when I saw his profile: I found him on PetFinder, too. I drove almost 100 miles to adopt him - which I had never done before when adopting a cat - but I just knew he was gonna be something special.

Annabelle is a beautiful dog. She looks so forlorn in that pic. I'm sure she would be ecstatic to find her forever home, and people who will love her no matter what.

I hope everything goes well!

Just talked to the Anatolian Rescue woman and we are going to see Annabelle at 11 tomorrow! We are so excited. Another family in Arizona is also interested in Annabelle, but since we are actually going to see her, we will have "dibs."

I also talked to Martin, and he sounded so sad. He said, "I really miss my buddy and when I saw that picture, it made me happy." Can we just stop and say "Awwwwwwwwww?"

Soooooo, I will update tomorrow, with more photos and maybe a video. Unfortunately, the kennel where she is currently staying is pretty "basic" and we have been warned not to be shocked. ICK!

Keep those vibes going!

Praying!! I hope it all works out for you and your brother. Don't forget your camera, too!

It's really, really close to ME!
It's just inconceivable that some people look into the eyes of a living creature and want to kill it. Please may we someday evolve beyond that.

I hope it works out for your brother-in-law and Annabel ...but if not, I live fairly close by, and I could talk to some of our neighbors, try to find her a home. Surely among all us Texans, we can take care of this pretty girl!

So Stephanie, shall I bring you a kitty, since I'll be in your neighborhood? LOL

Carol, I agree totally. I'm so glad the neighbor intervened and rescued Annabelle. Now she's close to her forever home, be it with my BIL or in Arizona. Bless her heart, I hope she can hang on a little longer.

I checked out the kennel online where she is. It is quite "rustic" but has 5 stars for the treatment the pets get there. However, kennels are not a "home." Annabelle NEEDS one---FAST!

Awwww! Many adoption vibes coming your way!

What a beauty!!! Such a sad face though, and I'm not surprised given how she ended up "homeless". Someone should shoot her former owners just like they wanted to do to her

Bless your BIL's heart! I hope this works out!

And big to your BIL and to his "lucky lady"!

Oh my goodness! Who couldn't fall in love with that face and those eyes!!!

So did you bring her home with you?

No, we didn't bring her home. Martin has to fill out an application, send photos of his backyard, and have them speak with his veterinarian first. I was worried about having her here as I didn't know how she'd deal with cats but after observing her for almost an hour, I don't think it will be a problem so we may go and get her a few days before Martin comes, so she can be shined up (she's shedding and is a little smelly) and exercised before her long drive. I think if we are careful not to let her and the cats mix directly, it will be fine. My dogs easily accept others, so that will not be an issue.

Martin works for UPS and can catch a flight for free anytime he wants. He will likely fly in, come to our house for a night and then rent a car and drive her home to California--21 hours. They should be WELL bonded by then!

Oh, she's no longer skinny! I think she lost weight during the cold weather as her kennel is not heated all that well. She was spayed 2 weeks ago and amazingly, she'd never had a litter in 2 years. She's just a great dog.

Will keep you posted. Martin's flying home from Vegas right now (he private pilots for bigwigs on the side) and will be seeing the photos any minute. We sent two via the phone and he was SO excited that he immediately started making plans!

That's so heartwarming that he's so excited! Sounds like the rescue is thorough as well, which is also a good thing. When he rents a car, most won't rent for out of state travel other than surrounding states and most don't allow pets in the car. Check on all that before he makes too many plans.

So, after all the hoopla last week, I thought things were a sure thing. Not so fast...my SIL suddenly got cold feet.

I felt TERRIBLE.

Toward midweek, we got another call from Martin, and he said they'd passed the vet check and the application was completed. However, his delay had possibly cost him the dog, as the Arizona couple were now in the top spot. They had until Friday 5 pm to accept her. The waiting and nailbiting began, and supposedly my SIL was/is spending much time during the day watching the slideshow I'd made of Annabelle, and crying.

Last night, Martin called. ANNABELLE IS HIS!!!! We are now in the process of getting transportation arranged, as he decided simply to airship her via American Airlines. Nothing is easy, though, as he has a funeral to attend in Alaska this week and he wants to be able to pick her up from the airport. I keep saying, "It needs to be soon, while it's still cool!" but no one is listening!

So, now the vibes need to be changed to "Please let everyone get on the same page and get Annabelle to her FOREVER home!" Ideally, I'd like her to come here Wed or Thursday so we can get her shined up and then ship her Sat or Sunday of next week. Strike while the iron's hot and we have a long weekend!

Anyway, that's news of the moment. I'll keep you posted.

OK, new update. It looks like we're going to bring her home to us on Wed or Thurs and then take her to the airport on Sat morning. We'll have to leave here around 4:30 a.m.! UGH

She'll be in CA by 10 am. Martin will be in Alaska, but my SIL will pick up Annabelle in CA with the help of her BIL. Martin will have to wait until Sunday to meet his new little girl!

He talked to me on the phone and is just so happy! It's so nice to hear it. Martin is a true dog lover.

More when she gets here!

Annabelle arrived around 6 tonight, and will stay with us until Saturday when she'll fly to CA to her forever home. She was great in the car, so says my hub.

She did her business as soon as she got here, and then went out back to meet my dogs. They are being very cautious around each other, and Sally, my alpha, is a little bent out of shape. Amazingly, Annabelle pays no real attention at all to the cats, although they are VERY curious about her.

We furminated a huge pile of hair off of her, and gave her a scrubbing in the backyard using the hose hooked up to the laundry room sink. The suds were tan as we washed her. She's now in her crate in the kitchen, as she can't seem to stay off the furniture. She acts like she knows what a house is and made a beeline for the comfiest chair.

A few photos. Freshly bathed:

Brillo watching Annabelle:

Ziggy being brave (he won't leave her alone!):

And a pitiful one. I took her in the house after this photo as she seemed really emotionally worn out:

It will be an interesting 2 days, to be sure...

Thanks for looking.
