Question about marking & jelousy between cats

We used to have a male cat that had marked around the house, but we just got the carpets cleaned (we used chem dry's purt service) to help get the smell of his urine fully out of the house. We have 2 new female kittens now. Will a female cat mark where a male cat has already marked? I just wanted to know, just in case. One of them keeps smelling an area that had been particularly strong, and I'm nervous she's going to try and pee there. Any advice on how to help keep them from marking or things to help prevent any marking would be great. Thanks!

I just wanted to add, will they get jealous because I show one attention and the other is in the room? I don't want to cause any problems, because they are unhappy or think that I like one over the other. I love them both equally.

As a member of a multicat household. The best thing I have found IMO is to use white vinegar to nuetralize any urine. I also use Urine Gone or Natures Miracle to clean any new spots. You might also want to try a Feliway diffuser. That does calm behavioral problems. I know it helped with my boy, he was always upset when he saw a cat outside.

As far as showing affection from one cat to another, as long as you show as much attention to one as another it doesn't matter if they see you with the other cat. Good Luck.
