Food to entice a cat to come...a twist

Ok There is a no feeding strays rule and my sister is the type to follow rules.

SO!!!
In need of ideas of food that cats tend to like that can be left out on a plate by accident
Smelly but not to obvious Semi cheap

Trying to get the cats to come at night to her place to get them coming on time to trap(not worried much about that as if caught she can say oh i was going to trap to take to shelter worst case she can open trap up(oops)

Cats can be picked up within hour of her calls and she has just a dog on advantage so no worries tho it is a small apt.

THANKS

Well, too bad about the rules especially if you are feeding to trap. Then by all means start putting food out at the same time each day and everyday. They will come. Fancy Feast Shrimp/Fish is a favorite and you can mix that with some tuna from the can as well. Really any Fancy Feast brand will work. When they start coming around at your scheduled feeding time, then you can set a trap out there for a day just to let them see the trap and get comfortable with it visually. Don't set the trap yet. Just feed next to the trap. On trap day, you can bait with tuna, sardines or KFC chicken and in they go, hopefully.

The complex your sister lives in doesn't realize that these cats need to be trapped and fixed. Not feeding them won't send them away at an apartment complex if that what management thinks, they will hang out there and eat garbage and scraps wherever they can and breed. I am sure that if you trap these cats they will be euthanized. The fact that the A.C. comes within an hour to pick up trapped cats tells me that is what they do. If it is Animal Control that is what will happen. for you and your sister caring

Problem is if management see cat food outside they have threatened to fine and sister is in a bind and needs no issues to come as already been a few(neighbor reported her for more then one pet when she had THAT lady's cat delivering in her bathroom-the lady has issues of I don't want my cat I want my cat def mental issues so no reasoning with her).

Far as the coming in an hour that's ME that can do that as soon as she calls I would leave for her house and be there in hour tops. I told her if you get something and think someone knows load it in car take off ill meet at walmart or something

I also am trapping ONLY for myself NONE are at risk for going to the shelter they will be TNRed or if to sick euthed(this one sounds BAD afraid it may have been locked in apartment not fed).

If a trap is seen, apartment management will NOT be happy. There was a hoarding case not to long ago they pulled 50-60 cats and after that there was a big breakdown far as cats are concerned.

My idea was throw out food now to get cats there and then give her a few traps and load up the trapped one in MY car and wait around see if we can trap more and if lady starts take off. Told her try ppl food so its not to obivous what shes doing and just to get the cats to her door will trap with better stuff but need ideas on what we can put out now.

OH you are soooo wonderful. I understand the situation better now. How sad for the cats at that complex and I totally understand that your sister is now taking a chance with trapping. I guess, I don't understand why management wouldn't allow trapping? Because your sister is trapping to take away, not to keep. Wish you and your sister much luck with these cats and I guess I would use the KFC chicken, that's people food. I do hope you can trap that sick kitty very soon. Bless you

Has she actually tried talking to the building management? They won't give her like a month to trap them? It's not like she's going to continue feeding them, and the logic of preventing the cats from having kittens may help... and of course mentioning that this is being done as a SERVICE at NO COST to the apartment complex might help.... ?

Otherwise, tuna or KFC meat are GREAT attractants that can be "accidentally" left out.

That's what I thought of. Kentucky Fried Chicken, original formula with the skin and bones removed. Can "accidentally" drop some pieces around to attract the cats.

It wasn't like this when she moved in then alot of changes came. I know shes afraid. We did pull a few for tnr couple months ago but the place is quite big and they seem to be moving down from the apartments when you first enter. Also seems they are putting the large dogs in the older section(entrance) from few times I was there.

I was thinking of calling and offering to do it so shes not involved. And good point bring up that no cost and that they will be dealt with very fast/not to create a scene. If I can get the sick one I will be happy for now(obviously I want more but that one sounds SO sad.

Kfc should be good-going to lend them a table to set up for some cover

Think I should go have lunch with her tomorrow if I can get done with dropping this cat off to its waiting mommy early enough.

When I was in apartment it was SO more relaxed and it was about 25 miles north go figure-I could have set all the traps I wanted and as long as no one tripped over them and hidden enough they would have ignored them.

Just sending more thoughts and pray you can help at least some of these cats at that complex without your sister getting noticed or in any kind of trouble with the "ignorant" management

Yeah, don't involve your sister if she'll be fined or kicked out. . .and if the management tells you to scram, just tell 'em you're the crazy cat lady and you'd think they'd be GLAD to have you haul cats out of there . You don't have to tell them the healthy ones will be back after TNRing. . .

In that kind of situation I wouldn't even bother with acclimating the cats--I'd just put out a few traps late at night and see who goes in. I know you're after the one particular cat, but you ought to catch some of them even going in cold.

Fried chicken is good, or rotisserie chicken (easier to get and maybe cheaper). You don't really even need a plate for chicken chunks. Otherwise, my "patented" trapping bait is a mixture of cheap tuna (smellier than the good stuff), canned salmon, and clam juice. Smelly! But that is mushy and needs to be on a plate.

Good news is she has a friend who is allowing us to use her patio-its VERY private part of apartment and where the cats hang out cause its a dead section). So plan is use her area and just throw out some traps and see what we get. and a few carriers in case any are friendly enough(alot are dumped when moving.

I think the amount of cats is alot greater then the amount of food being given out so they are in a state of always being hungry/on look out, if this cats as bad as what she says it will go in.

Rained to much to go today
Oh vibes I release them all please...lmao....no im full i dont need anymore
