Since my job and health issues earlier this year would not have allowed me to be able to intern (or work a second job) to earn four credits to finish my Cooperative Education requirements, I opted to write a 40 page (minimum) paper.

I finally finished the main body of the paper. All I have left to do know if edit some of my sources, rewrite my outline, proofread and correct my mistakes, and create a works cited list and bibliography. I have to turn it in by April 11. I have new off days starting this coming weekend (Saturday and Sunday) with my new bid, so I should finish up Saturday.

One more term...

Woohooo! Good for you!! One of my friends has been going to school non stop to get her degree in elementary education. She will graduate this spring and I'm so happy for her! She's worked crazy hard!! We've all been telling her "your almost done; your almost done!"

Then she starts on her master's over the summer. No rest for the weary!

Excellent news! Sounds like it shouldn't be any trouble to finish on time! (Hope the health problems don't interfere!) Like Gail, I'm wondering what the topic is!

Thanks!

I wrote about the founding of the United States and our system of government from the end of the Seven Years' War, through the ratification process of Constitution, and the ever changing face of federalism. The main body of the paper itself is 43 pages. There is a lot of subject matter to cover from that period so I didn't go too in depth with some of it considering it was only supposed to be forty pages. I'm halfway through the editing process right now.

(I didn't have my glasses on when I wrote this in case there are a bunch of typos.)

WOW - tough to get that down to 43 pages! Must be fascinating though.
History was never much of an interest when I was in school, but love it now.

It wasn't the easiest thing to do. One thing that helped is that I took a government class the previous term which gave me a lot of material to work with.

One thing I learned over the course of my research- elitism prevails in our government, it always has. Part of the desire for a stronger national government to replace the weak Articles of Confederation had to do with the social elites of the period wanting a way to secure more wealth and prestige for themselves.

The House of Reps was set up to be voice of the people, I doubt that it is that way today. Elitism seems to run amok there, too. The people originally didn't vote for senators, they were selected from state legislatures. I can't remember which amendment changed that off of the top of my head. The Senate, the executive, and the judiciary were all designed so that only the social, political, and economic elite would occupy those positions.

Despite this big project, American history is not my first love. That honor falls to ancient history, followed by the Civil War and World War II.
