What is the best LOW PRICED over the counter can cat food

Thread Starter
After years of serving [wet canned] cans of wellness, evo, blue buffalo, fancy feast, because of economics, on some days of the week i am starting to feed my 3 cats Friskies Classic Pate[chicken with gravy]. For dry food, i am staying with wellness core or another high brand dry cat food.

Is Friskies Classic Pate a good cat food for a LOW PRICE or is there another low price cat food that is better/recommended?

It can vary so much by what happens to be on sale where you are at, and if you can get discount buying bulk. That is why I prefer to just research what to look for on ingredients so I can buy a variety of whatever is on sale that doesn't, for lack of a better word, suck.

Obviously not great, but looks ok aside from the byproducts and high ash. They don't list other things that some other more expensive brands do though like magnesium content, target urine PH, and so on. *shrugs*

On a dry matter basis:
Crude Protein 45 %
Crude Fat 23 %
Crude Fiber 4.5 %

Turkey, poultry by-products, water sufficient for processing, meat by-products, liver, fish, rice, artificial and natural flavors, guar gum, potassium chloride, carrageenan, salt, choline chloride, taurine, calcium phosphate, zinc sulfate, thiamine mononitrate, Vitamin E supplement, ferrous sulfate, niacin, manganese sulfate, calcium pantothenate, Vitamin A supplement, copper sulfate, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of Vitamin K activity), pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin supplement, Vitamin B-12 supplement, biotin, folic acid, Vitamin D-3 supplement, potassium iodide. Do you have a Trader Joe's near you? I forget what the exact cost of their canned food is but I'm thinking it is $0.59 for a 5.5 ounce can.

Ingredients of the "Turkey and Giblets Dinner" (pardon me if something is spelled wrong, I'm typing this as I can't find the list online):

Turkey Broth, Turkey, PoultryGiblets, Ocean Fish, Chicken, Oat Bran, Rice Flour, Fish Protein Concentrate, Lecithin, salt, potassium chloride, guar gum, minerals (iron Amino acid chelate, zinc amino acid chelate, colbalt amino acid chelate, copper amino acid chelate, maganese amino acid chelate, sodium selenite potassium iodide), Vitamins (VitaminE, A, D3, B12 supplements, Thiamine Monoitrate, Niacin, d-Calcium pantothenate, pytidoxine hydrochloride, Riboflavin supplement, Folic Acid, Biotin), Choline Chloride, Carrageenan, Calcium Carbonate, Taurine.

Guaranteed Analysis
Crude Protein 9%min
Crude Fat 5% min
Crude Fiber 1%max
Moisture 78%max
Ash 1.9% max
Magnesium 0.025% max
Taurine 0.05% min.

chicken, turkey, and rice dinner:

Chicken broth, chicken, turkey, ocean fish, animal liver, brewers rice, oat bran, fish protein concentrate, lecithin, salt, potassium chloride, guar gum, minerals (iron amino acid chelate, zinc, amino acid chelate, cobalt amino acid chelate, copper amino acid chelate, maganese amino acid chelate, sodium selenite, potassium iodide), vitamins (vitamin E, A, D3, B12 supplements, thiamine mononitrate, niacin, d-calcium pantorhenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin supplement, folic acid, biotin), choline chloride, carrageenan, calcium carbonate, taurine.

Sophistacat (Petsmart's house brand) is about the same price and general quality as Friskies, but without the artificial colors and flavors. If you can go up a bit, Petsmart's premium house brand, Authority, is pretty good. I think it's about 70 cents a can.

I have also heard that Sophistacat and Authority are both okay wet foods. I don't know much about the ingredient contents as you said, Sophisticat is without the artificial colors and flavors.

Sharky has said in the past here that there are some friskies and fancy feast wets that were ok...

i'd maybe do a search for those brands..
