I Guess this Makes it Official-

Shell is gone. She was laid to rest in a forest grave and given the dignity that a cat like her deserved. To put into words all that she gave (to all she touched) while she was here would be difficult. Her mission continues on even in her death as she touched lives all over the world. People are pledging to make a difference, to reach out to the next abandoned stray they see in their yard or neighborhood- in her honor- in her name, and so Shell, I salute you and I thank you for choosing me to help tell your story. Your presence in my life for this last month has humbled and inspired me and I shall always, always love you

For those who might be in the dark about the Power of Shell, you can visit her story on my blog in my signature below. And I hope all of you, one day, find a cat such as Shell who can literally move mountains of ignorance and set people on the path of doing the right thing~

And although some of these photos below may look like this cat isn't in the world anymore, I must assure you- in these photos, she was very much alive.

Goodbye Sweet Girl thank you again for choosing me-It was such an honor to meet you~

Oh MA, I am SO sorry to hear that Shell has lost her battle. Once again you have shown so much love and fought so hard for our precious ones. Shell was loved so much in her last days!
RIP Shell! You touched the hearts of so many!

When I saw that thread locked, my heart fell to the floor. Then I bawled while I read your blog. I am so, so, sorry. Thank you for all you did, and continue to do, for these poor creatures.

My tears are back again. What a valliant fight you and Shell put up. Although it did not end like we all wanted it to, like you say she has touched so many.

I give my guys extra skritches in her name and because I am so happy to have them. The neglect she endured before you found her, was cancelled out when she felt the warmth of her favorite blanket, or her grooming sessions. Or those skritches she leaned into to absorb every loving stroke.

God bless you Maryann and that sweet little soul, who all too briefly, passed through this life here, now to spend eternity in the arms of angels.

Goodnight sweet little girl.

I, too, am crying again after reading your blog. I'm so, so sorry she didn't make it, but as you say, maybe she has paved the way for many more to be saved in the future.

Rest in peace, sweet, sweet, Shell

I am truly sorry for your loss of sweet Shell. She was blessed to have you and some love in her little life before her time to go to the Bridge.

MA, you gave your sweet girl love and care such as she had not known, and a dignified departure and resting place that she couldn't have hoped for, but for you. She was a very special kitty and has had a profound impact on many people. I'm so sorry she lost her battle, but it was well fought, and she's at peace now.

RIP sweet Shell

for your great heart, MA

I still can't read about Shell or see her pictures without blubbering like an idiot. I don't know why her story touched me so profoundly, but I do know that I'll never forget her for as long as I live. She was an angel, and a true blessing to anyone who got to know her story. Her life was not in vain.

Rest peacefully, sweet Shell. You touched so many hearts and will always be remembered.

Bless you, MA, for giving Shell the only love she's ever known.

Bless her dear little heart. At least she knew love and comfort as only hissy can give during her last days.

It's amazing what they can share with everyone around them, even in such a short time. Shell was such a special little girl, and I'm sure it meant the world for her to have you in her corner until the end.

R.I.P Shell

you probably have all ads turned off and that used to mean signature ads as well.

Here is the link to my blog www.feralcatbehavior.com If you backtrack, Shell passed April 1st, it was no April's Fool joke.

Here is the link for the blog (you might have to cut and paste as I am posting this from my phone): http://www.feralcatbehavior.com

MA, we have been talking somewhat often since sweet Shell's passing, and there hasn't been a moment since than that I haven't thought about of her, about what she brought into my life, into our lives...
To think that a little 4.3lb kitty a "just a cat", as some would say, has brought together so many people all over the globe, with huge open hearts... This little kitty brought the best in hundreds, made flourish some pretty amazing deeds... Made some people donate their last available dime, made some rescue other strays, more kitties, donate time, educate children, be more loving, more compassionate... This little, tiny 4.3lb "just a cat" made a 10 year old child get her allowance to buy a little sweater so a kitty would feel warmer, a teacher use a her blog to teach his kids to be more compassionate... People got creative anyway they could... To help... Not for money, not for fame, not expecting something back, but just simply to help this little kitty, who they had never seen, met, touched... Out of pure love. It was so beautiful to watch...
Then she was gone... Silence...
Today I see that all those people cried, they all shed tears, all over the globe... Again, out of love. Our hearts broke into million pieces...
But Shell's legacy continues- surprises happens everyday, people continue to come together in Shell's name, her legacy keeps getting stronger.
To me, watching all this, I can only think Shell had a mission... She came in with a purpose, and when her mission was accomplished, it was time for her to leave. She was surrounded by angels, and is now one of them..
Now it is our job to keep her legacy alive, the legacy she fought so hard to leave behind...
Shell, thank you so so much for enlightening my life- for some, you might been "just a cat", but for me, there is life before and after Shell;
I love you, it's been an honor!

Thank you so much. I found it on another posting and have just finished reading the story of Shell. It's sad, it's heartwarming, who is more blessed...the kitty because someone special helped her....or the person who found the kitty? Shell's story brought up so many memories of my stray, Buddy....I hope Buddy greeted Shell at the Rainbow Bridge...they are both determined little sweeties with so much personality. Is it any wonder that I can do without people, but I can't do without cats...R.I.P. Shell, you were truly loved.

Thank you, Hissy. I will look into my User CP and see if I can change the settings.

Bless you so much for taking care of Shell. You make the world a better place. Shell is out of pain and misery, mind you, you took her out of a different misery when you brought her into your life. She knew love, warmth, friendship and hopefully realized that humans do care. She couldn't be saved...but she'll live forever in your heart and memory...

Shell was truly an inspiration. I am so thankful to have been touched by this angel and her story and I thank you, MA, for bringing it to all of us and sharing Shell with us. You filled her moments these last weeks of her life with so much love and thank God you were there for her in her final days on this Earth to show Shell what it felt like to be loved and treated with dignity, kindness and compassion. I will never forget this cat and her story for the rest of my life.

Shell you are finally pain free, you were loved by many, and you deserved so much more than the life you had. The bridge is lucky to have you

I'm so sorry to read that Shell died. She was a beautiful cat. Lynxx will be there to greet her at the bridge.

RIP, Shell.

I deal with "rough" cats on a regular basis at the shelter. Some are successes. Some are failures. But they all touch my heart.

Oh MA I am so so terribly sad to read this. I too was hoping and praying that little Shell would be for a while longer with you. I am convinced she lived through this terrible ordeal for so long just so that the two of you could find each other.
RIP sweet baby
