My cat was/is on an organic diet(by nature organics) and while we were away due to illness in the family i had no time to buy him food so i left money and instructions where to buy his food in case he ran out before we got home, well he ran out and she bought him whiskas senior.
Now he wont eat the food i was originally feeding him,I do not like whiskas or friskies, pretty much anything grocery.I do not want to starve him to get him to go back on organic but not sure what to do,The bag she bought is still almost full and i have tried mixing his old stuff with the whiskas and he picks out what he wants.
He is 11 years old.
Will the whiskas hurt him in the end if i keep trying while trying to finish the bag as i hate to see food go to waste.

That may be a hard switch and better off to try mixing the food he was given with the other. How much did you try and mix in? how about adding canned to it to make it harder for him to remove.

I got a great deal on that food and bought alot figuring I got enough cats and some will eat it if not all...yeah right. They wouldn't touch the bowl and would go a day without eating(think more had I let them

I brought the food back as found no takers for it in my friends who do rescue/ferals.

I started at 75% whiskas food and 25% mine,He is not a huge wet food fan so normally doesn't touch it....
Normally i would make sure i am well prepared before leaving(dogs and cat have lots of food, rescues i foster for notified,i do not go on vacation or leave often but because my grandfather has been very ill lately we left of very short notice...A great long boring 9 hour drive.

Sorry grandfather is ill, a 9 hour drive. I can't even take that vacation:p

Thinking short term adding the gravy thats used for dogs food or cat milk mixed into the dry? If no allergies/urinary concerns fish flakes or something like that.

No health concerns with Stewie,So gravy may work.
My trip to Saskatchewan was barley a vacation,I tend to stay home more due to the cats and dogs.
My grandfather has been in and out of the hospital for the past year and more,Regina i almost a 9 hour drive, and Vacations are out of the question because of pets.....I can't even leave them alone for a very short planned time no need going for a time that i can not predict.

So sorry for the illness in your family. It is probably best to keep trying to convert him back to his organic diet. I have not yet read the entire thread so you may already be trying this; Try mixing in a small amount of wet into the organic food to get him interested. Or maybe some of the kitty supplement milk just to moisted the organic kibble. I'm assuming you were using kibble since you used the word "bag". Best of luck to you!

Not how I meant to phrase that.

Meant more of I have to many to be away for even that long(9 hours).

I will be honest that food had no scent when I had it(cheap as could be) I have 32 cats now and probably offered it to 20 and NO ONE touched it. I ended up dumping it as the ferals and racoons would not touch at a friends house. They were eating science diet or purina at the time forget now but I found that VERY odd.

Would you consider switching brands? Maybe something thats still very high end but a bit more to his liking

Stewie loved his organic food but now seems to like this better...I will not be permanently switching him.
I may go look around and see what i can find,I just do not wanna switch him back too fast just in case,Even though he has never had a issue with stomach problems from switching as i did it alot at one point cause some foods he just did not look well on and others he did.

What about mixing the foods and keeping them in a container a few days-maybe the old will pick up the new flavor a bit? And he gets back into the groove of the old food.
