hi all, wanted to check back in and update you on all my ferals. lets see, I think I'm up to 8. I've got 2 more all black males I've socialized and I'm going to release then to the barn in another week or two. all my others have discovered how to come in and out of the doggie door except one of my original girls. Smooth wants to come in but doesn't want to mess with the dogs so she stays out. everyone else comes and goes as they feel like it. Orange Cat, (the feral with the one eye), who moved into the house a while ago is still in our bed, along with the dogs, and now fuzzy. fuzzy is one of the original ferals. the one everyone called satans child. she sleeps on half my pillow and orange cat sleeps on the other half. of course, that means there isn't anything left for me unless I put my head on OCs belly which he likes. (dont ask me why) so now I'm down to one cat (smooth) outside. which is why I'll be moving Binx and BB (baby boy) outside. with my luck they will figure out the doggie door too.
for some reason they think the big bed is much better then outside. Oh well. for someone who has never liked cats, my opinion sure has changed. nothing is better then listening to them purr in your ear at nite as the put a paw on your cheek just to make sure you are still there for them. I love the all

also, still have the 3 rescue doxies and one of my very old boys (horse) passed so I've taken in another senior to take his place. He's looking better then anything. even with no teeth he has put on several hundred lbs.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Um... wasn't I wondering the last time you gave us an update how long it'd be before they were all inside?

I'm just beaming for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They sure are a lucky bunch!

And how are YOU doing? I'm sorry, I don't remember if you were having back surgery, or the pump installed.... but I know you've had a lot of challenges. Are you up and about? Driving?
I really hope you're not suffering too much pain (I'd prefer it were none at all!)

We added another indoor-only kitty to the bunch. This past summer we had to rescue the kitty in my signature.

Hi Mary
. Just joined TCS in December and enjoyed reading this thread. How funny about the pillow sharing. I have to share a pillow with Perla each night, she demands it
. Bless you for taking in all of these cats and can't wait to hear more about you and your cats

You are right. I was having a pain pump implanted in my back. It went well and now I'm back to driving and doing things I used to do. i tried to go back to dog training, but that is too much up and down to make me happy, so I spend all my time taking care of all the animals. I've got my two last ferals in the crate in the barn. they have been there for almost a week. I feel sad that they have to be out, but they aren't ready to be house cats. I figure they will follow the parade in and out the doggie door and will learn to make themselves at home. One thing that I think is funny and very strange is this. when we come back in from taking care of the horses at 10pm I always give my doxis some low calorie dog treats before we go to bed. well, guess who runs into the house in order to get their share of the treats. Orange cat and now Gray Cat. they have several of them. i hope they aren't harmfull to them, but they love them. I've been thinking of recording it and sending it to the company that makes the cookies. lol

Orange kitty and Grey kitty are the smart and brave ones
Maybe pick up some Temptations and offer them those as treats. Although, I am sure those dog treats are just fine for the cats

I've got about 5 different types of treats for the cats. Do they eat them..of course not.
they want what the dogs get. Luckly the treats are all natural and are based in sweet potatoes so i dont think it will really hurt them. It's just so funny that the cats now sit in line with the dogs to be handed the treat. You should see it if the dogs try to get the treats from the cats not going to happen
we have started to call orange cat.. orange dog as he doesn't see to know the difference. also, he is twice as big as my dogs, so he deserves to have the title

Orange DOG
. I love Orange boys. I call my Perkins, Orange Boy..... Yeah, the cats are the rulers over the dogs for sure
. Just yesterday, Pipsqueak had a stare down at Henry, my old dog. Henry just stared at the ground while Pipsqueak was a foot away from him glaring at him, like he was saying "go ahead, Henry, make my day!!!" Poor Henry..... and all Henry did was bark too much.
