Now that you all know I am the oldest geezer on TCS, what do you suppose my favorite band is? 10,000 points to the first person with the correct answer.

Hint: When I was 15, I got a 45rpm player for my birthday. I soon had hundreds of those big holed records. My mom walked in one day and said "I will sure be glad when you get over this phase of yours". I answered that my phase would last well into my seventies.

If I must give more hints later, I will.

BTW, I was just wondering. In my siggy you will find blue letters that are underlined, the universal symbol of a link. Has anybody actually ever clicked on that link? 2,000 points to the first person who honestly says they have.

I'll be honest. I never clinked on your link until you just mentioned it.

Favorite band? Too many good ones back then to narrow it down without a hint.

How about Buddy Holly?

Having now read the other thread, I suppose the obvious answer would be the Beatles, but that seems so ......simple. pat. too obvious. you know.

I'm pretty sure most people are guessing bands that are old because your "hint" specifically mentions you being 15. So was that a red herring?

Ahhh! Missed the "15" part.

You never came right out and stated your age in the other thread, so I guestimated and came up with:

Benny Goodman.

He kind of did. He said he was only days older than the second place person, and that person did give their age.

John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers as Green, Fleetwood and McVie were all members of the Bluesbreakers. I think Mayall is still performing solo.

Well I honestly never clicked on your link, because I never put my mouse over it to know that it was a link!

As for your fave band, I have no idea, not a fan and therefore not too knowledgeable about Fleetwood Mac... and I'm too lazy to go cheat and do a bunch of internet searching..
I am interested to find out the answer though!!

You did say that for a long time you thought it was Fleetwood Mac that you liked, but you actually discovered it was actually Stevie Nicks, the female lead singer. Which is why I didn't pick Fleetwood Mac, and went with the Rolling Stones....and then did a google search for popular bands around the time you may have been 15 years old...which I calculated would be possibly around 1956 or so, and Benny Goodman popped up, as did several other singers, who we knew as solo artists and not a "band".
