Has anyone tried it?? I'm thinking about doing it ...It should be pretty safe for a short period of time. For now I'm shooting for 10 days ...
I'm just not sure there's any point, I don't know if it will do what it claims, especially the removal of toxins stuff seems really hard to believe..Maybe I should do a juice fast instead, but the problem with that is that I don't have a juicer, they are very expensive.
My goal is to remove toxins from my body, and hopefully help clear my skin from acne, and shed a few pounds, though nothing major...

Yes, I did it. I lasted the full 10 days, plus the two days before and after where you can have only soup & OJ. So it's really 14 days without solid food. 2 days before you start the cleanse you only eat soup. The day before you start the cleans you drink only Orange Juice. On day 11, you drink just OJ, and day 12, you eat soup. Then finally, you can go back to eating solids.

I lost about 13 lbs. The hardest part for me were the salt water flushes everyday (I did mine in the AM). I would reccomend researching online and buying a kit. That's what I did - they send you everything you need (except the lemons and water). My kit came with the organic maple syrup, cayenne pepper, salt, mint tea, and laxative tea.

I can't for the life of me remember which site I purchased it from, but it certainly made it a bit easier because it came with all the materials I needed as well. It's def very tough - but I will say I was never hungry on the diet. I know that's probably hard to believe, but others who have also done it have said the same. I think when it comes to this diet, it's all mind over matter. I found that trying not to stress too much about what you are doing and it will be easier to get through the 10 days.

Let us know if you try it! Good Luck!

It seems like such a shock to your system could be dangerous. I hope you'll talk to your doctor before you undertake it.

And y'know, you can wash away a lot of toxins on a daily basis just by drinking plenty of plain water... very beneficial over the long term. Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

Good Point, which I should have mentioned....

You may want to check with your doctor before starting this cleanse. I spoke with my Dr. about it, who initially said I shouldn't do it - just because HIS opinion was that it wasn't a good thing to do.

I had to explain to him I was going to do it regardless of what his personal opinion was, and I was asking for his assessment based on my health & NOT his opinion of the diet. I would not reccomend this until you know your body is in the right condition for it.

I did feel great on this diet, and for many months after until I fell back into the cycle of eating crapola again.

It sounds too extreme for me. Anything too far one way IMO is not good.

There are better ways to loose wt IMO. We are loosing wt over a long period of time my dh and me. Slow and steady and healthy.

Along with any toxins, you are also getting rid of good stuff too.

I agree that something like this should be undertaken ver cautiously and only with a doctor's approval and guidance.

Can anyone explain what these "toxins" are and why a short term "cleanse" is going to make one healthier vs an overall attempt to just eat a healthier diet?

And a question for utopia specifically: Do you cook? Enjoy cooking? Or are you fairly good at it?

I enjoy cooking, but not on an everyday basis. I cook mostly for other people, like family members whom I worry about, because they aren't getting good nutrition. So I try to fix it by cooking good things for them and tempting them with it. As far as mysef Ieat thinngs like salads, sandwiches (tuna and avocado has been a favorite lately), lots of fruits for breakfast and snack...not a lot of cooked food. I never really loved cooked food, as a kid I hated eating except for candy and treats. Now, I enjoy sampling different meals but that's' about it I am not in the habit of eating cooked food lol...I do still eat vegetables in their raw form though, so I supposed you can say I already eat a pretty clean diet. No fast food..except the occasional candy or ice cream craving no junk food.
But 10 days is not a lot, and I doubt I'll lose a lot of weight on this, I just want to lose any extra water weight that I might have.
And my acne has flared up again, I think it's because I've had too many of those chocolate cravings lately, so that's a concern...

I haven't tried any 'cleanse' things like that, and I don't plan to. That said, whenever I'm feeling like my body is icky for whatever reason, it usually seems that I haven't been drinking as much water as I should be drinking. So I pay attention and drink more water. It makes me feel better mentally and physically, and I notice an improvement in my skin too. (not so dry and whatnot) Water's pretty amazing, and, well, an easy thing to do! I don't mean only drinking water and not eating or drinking anything else, I mean drinking more water during my day. Which in turn makes me not want to drink diet coke or whatever else as much, and also makes me a bit fuller so I'm not so hungry all the time. If you already eat well, which it sounds like you do, then keep eating well, and hydrate more.

At least you can cook. Likely your overall diet is fine, then. It's premade convenience foods that are a problem.

Instead of blaming food for your acne, look into the more common causes of it in women: hormones. (And not just sex hormones)

As for "toxins". You've been eating a lot of tuna lately and think that's healthy? There is a real legit toxin…

And lots of water will not make you healthier. It's not a miracle cure for other health issues. I've been drinking quite a bit for years, per doctors orders, and it's been rather useless. For most people moderation is better.

This is true. I'm not saying it's a cure-all or to drink gallons per day. A lot of people don't even drink 'moderate' amounts of water per day though. There are days when I have about 2 pints of water/soda/whatever I'm drinking. And I wake up the next day feeling pretty icky. So that's not enough for me to feel my best. We're all different. It's just something to pay attention to and find out what works best for your body.

I started eating tuna when I started trying to put on some muscle while working out, it has a lot of protein!! 20 grams for a small can, and pretty low in fat..
What is toxic about it? I never considered that before...

Yikes. Hadn't even thought about that. What is the toxin there? Iodine? I'd love to know more - and if you have similiar insight on other foods, I'd love to hear it. Do you think the same holds true about sushi? Which is another food that I exist on because its supposed to be good for me.

It's funny how there are so many misconceptions about what's healthy and what isn't.

Here I am suffering through plain tuna on a bed of lettuce and it may not be healthy for me afterall! At least I have an excuse now to stop eating so darn much of it.

Not that I needed my arm twisted that much....

Mmm, mercury. Tastiest of the transition metals.

(How many people know what that quote is from without looking it up?
)

I thought everyone knew that tuna and some fish, like swordfish, are loaded with it. That's why pregnant women are cautioned against eating much of it - what did everyone else think the warning was from?

In case anyone is still clueless as to how badly we've polluted our waters, here's the FDA's list for mercury content in fish. http://www.fda.gov/Food/FoodSafety/P.../ucm115644.htm
Some varieties of tuna are better than others, though ones like albacore and bigeye shouldn't really be eaten that often.
And if anyone cares, there's some fish that just aren't sustainable.

nope I looked up the quote and it says it's from sealab 2021 but I haven't even heard of that show before, but I like it, nice alliteration

And, that's so gross lol i hope there is less mercury in a fish than a rectal thermometer and that was just a joke

Seriously though, I knew there was mercury in fish, I had heard about it somewhere but I didn't actually consider how bad that is
It makes me scared of fish even more (I have a phobia of live fish) because they are nearly resembling some kind of sci fi mutants, as a result of toxic human waste ..
Not really but it's the connections my brain makes subconsciously

Cartoon Network shows it late at night/early morning on their Adult Swim. Even ten years later I still rewatch episodes of Sealab… some of the episodes are seriously messed up.

You can have fish, just be aware of what you're eating. Mix it up a bit with a variety of safer fish. If you care about the environment and wild fish populations, also be aware of what is being fished out and what are from farms that are actually very damaging.
Farmed fish like tilapia are farmed in some pretty ingenious ways because they can eat just about anything.
I'm not sure of how much of that tuna you were eating is out of a can- if quite a bit and you're still worried about "toxins" eat more fresh foods so you're not getting as much of the can lining in your diet.

And if you want yet another way to get a few less chemicals from the foods you eat, plant a garden this year.
Also lay off diet colas and anything with artificial sweeteners.
