April Fool Day's coming up & I'm getting NERVOUS!

Some of you may wonder why I would be getting NERVOUS about this.. For the past 2 years, my co workers/friends have played pranks on me on this 'special' day. First year, they decorated EVERYTHING in my cube in FOIL and it was so bright, you could see my cube from across the wing and that's pretty BIG! A friend said it took them 5 big rolls of foil to wrap everything in my cube. So many people visited my cube during the night (they did it after I left work early the day before) and all day. I had to work in a cube next to it so I could function but at the same time, allowe people to come gawk at my cube. Even the CEO, various Vice Presidents and directors heard and came down personally to check it out. A friend who set up a webcam with motion detection in my cube to record people's reactions said over 300 people visited my cube!

last year (2nd year), I was out of town on a business trip and all day people from all over the company would email and text me all day telling me that someone pranked me again and how awesome it was- better than the foil one. It drove me nuts. When I got back, I hurried over to my cube to find a banner saying 'April Fool Day- Gotcha Pamela!' and that was it. LOL.

Last year, they said they had something already planned for this year and I rolled my eyes and said, 'wait and see.' Well, last night, I was thinking and I realized that 2 of my co workers are out on a trip. Wasn't sure when they would be returning so i texted them asking if they'd be back before Friday. they replied and said oh yes and we are ready for april fool day..

I'm hoping that it's all talk and no action but I am cleaning my cube today just in case since I'll be busy filming all day tmr and Friday...

Any guesses?

Hmmm. Not sure anything could top the foil wrap.

Maybe they will hype you up and get you all anxious and just let the day go by without a prank?

Make sure they know that unless the prank is done before 12 noon, the prank makes them the fool, or so that's what I've always been told.

Ahhhh! So now I'm not sure. The biggest prank I can think of is to make someone think they're going to be pranked and then don't prank them!

Whatever they do, make sure you get pictures!

I agree - what could possibly top wrapping everything in foil? That was brilliant!

I can't even begin to imagine! But you can't keep us waiting!!!!

Maybe you'll luck out, get a blizzard and won't have to worry.

It will be a fun day for sure. Trying to plan some pranks of my own....

On April Fool's my friend in high school told her mom she was pregnant.

Yeah, that went over well.

I'm a teacher. April Fool's Day terrifies me. Thank God I don't teach in a traditional classroom... I'm a studio teacher, but somehow the majority of them find a way to get me!

And? And? And?

I loved the foil. It will be hard to top it. I will anxiously waiting to see what they might or might not do

Right? And of course Pamela's keeping us guessing again!

Well the joke's on me! I've gone around all day thinking today was the 1st! I guess I should be really glad I didn't take Chum to the vet yesterday.

Hello! Obviously I survived April Fool Day! Sorry I didn't post this earlier but was really busy.

I will post 2 versions of what happened- the first one is the SHORT one for those who don’t want to read about all the details and the long version is the one with all the details! HEHEH.

SHORT VERSION: My co workers' prank on me was okay but not a big deal at all.. They taped my chair’s wheels then my boss paged me to come down and help him find a file in my cube which was very odd. I knew right away it was a prank. When I came to my cube, he asked me to get a file from my desk. I went to pull away my chair and it wouldn’t roll away so I looked down and saw it was taped. I looked at the 3 people involved and said ‘Ha-ha.’

MY prank on my boss and 2 other people were BRILLIANT though and they fell for it completely (except for my boss- darn it) and they were groveling at my feet. Basically, I got the Vice President of HR to come and chew them out about how they were harassing me about cats, emailing me pictures of cats with comments, emailing me on a Saturday morning, and so forth. They fell for it completely! It went on for a good 10 minutes before my boss started laughing then I started laughing then they were like huh?? At that point, VP of HR told them it was a prank.

LONG VERSION: I really wanted to play a prank on my boss (‘Rick’) and 2 guys from a filming company that I work a lot with. Their names are ‘Steve’ and ‘Pete’. They LOVE to tease me about cats, actually about everything. So I really wanted to get even with them..

After talking with the Vice President of HR (Emily) Thursday afternoon (day before April 1), and she agreed to do this, here was the plan.. Emily would chew my boss and these 2 guys from the other filming company about how they harass me about cats, etc.

When I got home Thurs night, I saw that Emily had bcc'd me on an email she sent to 'Rick', my boss which was brilliant. Basically Emily said that a situation came up and that she'd like to meet with 'Rick', 'Steve' and 'Pete' at 9:15 the next morning to discuss it further.

Emily was GREAT about it!!!! Some of her comments were sooo inspired!
Emily started off by introducing herself to everyone (there were 4 people from the filming crew) then asked politely for a private meeting with Pete, Steve and Rick along with me and my interpreter (I'm deaf) and asked the other 2 people to leave the room which made it clear to everyone that this was serious (ha!).

Emily started talking about how important it is to have a good and professional relationship and how essential it is to respect others. She talked about how wonderful and professional I am since I've joined the company and how I'm such a great asset to the company.

At that point, she said that she was very concerned since some situations had been brought to her attention by me and she wanted to address them with us before they got worse.

Emily proceeded to pull out a picture that I had forwarded to her and asked 'Who sent Pamela this on a early Saturday morning and who said he enjoyed eating kitties for breakfast?! ' This was a picture that Pete texted me which showed his 'hello kitty' waffle iron (his kids LOVES cats) with pancakes shaped as cats next to it and sent me this on a EARLY Saturday morning saying how great it is to eat kitties for breakfast on a Saturday morning.

Pete actually squirmed in his seat as he admitted that it was he who sent me this. He started defending himself by saying he thought we were friends and he just meant it as a joke. It was NOT his intention to hurt my feelings, etc.

Emily pulled out another picture and asked who sent Pamela this. Steve (2nd guy who normally is always ready with a smile and a joke) replied with a very serious look on his face that he was the one. This was theh first time I've sen Steve being so serious! This is a picture that Steve emailed me and a few other people a picture of a cat leaping in the air with a gun in his paw shooting at everything and said 'this is what it looks like in Pamela's dreams'. Steve proceeded to say that It was just meant a s a joke. Emily looked at him and said this (which really cracked me up) ‘So you’re saying cats are our enemy?Steve was taken back at that point and started denying it and added that he has a cat of his own which he loves.

It was sooo hard for me to have a serious look on my face and not giggle. My boss wasn't helping cuz he caught on to what was going on (darn!) about half way through and he was trying so hard to not crack up. He actually had to leave at one point- he claimed he was coughing and needed to get a drink but it was really cuz he was cracking up.

Emily proceeded to say that she was not sure if we (our company) should proceed with using their filming company since it seems that Steve and Pete can’t be professional with me. I WISH I could’ve taken a pic of Steve and Pete’s faces at this! We are a BIG client of their company and if we pulled out, it’d be BAD NEWS for their company.

Rick (my boss) just started laughing out loud really hard then Amy (my interpreter) started laughing and I lost it. We (three of us) just sat there laughing.

Poor Pete and Steve were looking at us with bewildered looks on their faces. Emily finally turned to them and said- April Fool Day!

They looked puzzled and stumped for a few seconds then they both looked at me and said ‘you’re dead!’

They started laughing really hard too. At that point, I opened the door to let the other 2 people back in and one asked if this was a prank and I said yep. She said that they were trying to listen at the door and heard a bit but not all then heard us laughing. They kept saying how they were in awe of this prank and how great this was as a prank!

After half an hour of laughing and talking about this, Steve and Pete said they wanted to have Emily do this with their boss for April Fool Day so Rick called her office to see if she’d do this but she had left early –took the day off. They were soo disappointed! They wanted to see his reaction when Emily said she wasn't sure if we should continue using them or use another company.

Was that the ONLY prank I played on them?? NOPE!!

I also used a safety pin to poke 3-4 holes in several water bottles at the top so when they tip it to drink, water’d leak out. I also bought lemon poppyseed muffins in 2 boxes then took the muffins out and replaced with muffins that I made using SALT ( A LOT OF SALT). I also replaced a big bottle of juice with plain water dyed red.

It was hilarious watching them eat/drink before realizing what happened. LOL.

Rick and others said I better watch out since they will get me. I said 'Hey, you guys have teased me so many times, won't you let me get away with this just this once!?' LOL. Guess I better watch out. but it was SO WORTH IT!

Yes, it was worth the wait.

And that she thought to say something like that really was truly inspired!

It must have been nearly impossible not to bust out laughing!

Here's the original email I sent to Emily, Vice President of HR with info on each of the victims. Enjoy!

Sent: Thursday, March 31, 2011 4:24 PM
To: Emily
Subject: info for tmr's chewing out..
Importance: High

HEHE.. I can’t wait!

I’ve already emailed you 2 pictures along with emails that some of the crew sent.

The main victims I’d like you to chew out are the following:
  • Pete
  • Steve
  • Rick
Ideas to chew them out about-

•\tHarassing Pamela about cats- not appropriate. That’s too personal!? (Guilty- Steve, Rick and Pete)
•\tSending her emails on a Saturday morning with a comment that you love eating kitties for breakfast!? (Guilty- Steve)
•\tWhile filming, making Pamela say “Meow†instead of “Cut†(Guilty- Pete while Steve and Rick egged Pete on )
•\tMaking comments about how cats are dumb- demeaning Pamela’s love for cats (Guilty- Rick)
