I decided to sit down and do my taxes today. I am getting a refund, not much of one, but at least I'm not having to pay this year.

Last year was the first year that I got a refund in about 15 or so years. So I'm happy that the trend towards my benefit has continued. The government gets way more than I feel they should get, from me!!

I think we should be able to determine what our own taxes should be based on the value of the job that we feel they are doing. Don't you?!

We're going to work on our taxes this weekend. We tend to wait until pretty much the last minute because we always end up owing money. Although, I guess I shouldn't say that because last year we did receive a bit of a refund.....for the first time in I don't know how long!

I did mine a couple weeks ago (well, my accountant did it) and I owe $1,595. I actually thought I might owe more so am relieved it is only that much.

I'm waiting to get mine done. My husband's self-employed, so his are harder to do (I used to do our taxes, now I let someone else deal with that headache
) I wanted to schedule an appointment with the lady but she said she'll call us when she's ready. She's been sorting the hubby's stuff out since January or so (dropped off his invoices and such). Would love to get my return though (or hope to get one! Last year was a nice one!) sometime soon. Like, before I go to NYC!

I already received my refund of over $500 woo hoo. It went directly into my bank account since it was done online, I received it in 10 days. One of the things I want to spend some of it on is a new cat condo for Autumn. I don't do my taxes anymore tho I used to. I have a tax guy and have been getting money back every year. The reason I stopped doing them myself is that there are so many changes every year and I didn't want to screw myself out of getting money I deserved. I'm happy with this guy.

I did my U.S. tax return a couple of weeks ago, but I still have to do the German one.

If the U.S. govt. shuts down because Congress can't reach a budget agreement, an awful lot of people are going to be kept waiting for their refunds.

They've gotten pretty fast at processing returns here too. I remember years and years ago having to wait up to 2 months or more for a refund. Yet they will would send out a bill if you owed them money, within a couple of days!

Then it got to the point where if you filed online it would take about a month. Paper returns still took longer.

Now whether you file online or do it on paper and hand it in, the process rate is about the same. Usually less than 2 weeks.

My refund is going towards my pending move.
