We have been noticing that Kirby's eyes often move side to side when he isn't looking at anything. It's kind of hard to describe so I'm going to try to take a video for the vet but I'm wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone. I try to avoid looking up symptoms on google because it's just scary. We notice it the most when he's just kind of looking at nothing. He doesn't do it so much when he's actually focussing on anything.

We're nervous that it is a neurological problem but he doesn't really have any head tilting or balance problems. He does occasionally poop and pee right outside of the litter box but I think he gets confused when one of the other cats kicks a ton of litter out onto the floor. We have an enzyme cleaner but not one of the better ones so I don't think the problems are related. I'm calling the vet when I'm done with work in a few hours but any thoughts in the meantime?

No ideas but vibes for Kirby and I'm glad you're going to have the vet take a look at him.

It's really good that you are taking Kirby to the vet.

One of my cats Wheezer has something similar to what you are describing. With him it is a focusing problem, he seems to move his eyes to focus in on something. His eye movement isn't involuntary, I brought him to the Vet when he was 1 year old about it, they said everything looked okay. He's had it for 7 years never got any worse, it just seems it takes a few seconds to focus in on something. It's best to take him to the Vet. Good luck.

Is Kirby part siamese? My siamese mix Pipsqueak has the same thing. And I have seen many siamese eyes do the same thing too. It is usually related to a focusing issue. Pipsqueak has no problems due to this condition and only does it when he is trying to focus on something close up. for Kirby

Kirby was a stray we adopted from the humane society but he's just black and white so I don't think he's part Siamese
It's so weird because he has no other problems and thinking back I'm pretty sure his eyes have always been a little weird.

I looked at your profile cats pictures! They are all very pretty kitties. Kirby is very handsome and I couldn't really see his eyes. But if his eyes are a little crossed (I know of a tabby cat with eyes a bit inward and they would move rapidly back and forth at times) or inward then this might be the cause. Of course, take him to the vet. Pipsqueak eye movements are very rapid back and forth just when he is looking close at something. More for Kirby
