Cat With Cancer - tube feeding - Suggestions

Hello - sorry for the long post - - my dear sweet Emily Ann was diagnosed with small cell lympoma of the small intestines 3 weeks ago after 3 days at a pet hospital and surgery. The vet said that this form of cancer responds very well to treatment so I opted to treat her with Chemo and Prednisone. She has a tube in and I have been feeding her Hills A/D 3 times a day 40ml. She still is not willing to eat on her own. I have tried baby food, every type of soft food I thought she might like, tired tuna and salmon, cooked chicken ..... nothing really interests her. I have cut her down to 2 feeding a day in hopes that her hunger response will kick in. I keep her isolated in my bedroom at night so I can monitor any food she eats at night. I have another cat so she is not isolated during the day.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that I might try. I hate to go down to one tube feeding a day as she is a peanut and really cannot afford to lose weight.

Also has anyone tried the ES Clear Feline Cancer Treatment? Thoughts?

THANK YOU in advance as this cat is my furry soulmate and means the world to me. Jana

I just had a cat on tube feedings this past December. It was for hepatitis brought on by undiagnosed IBD. The vet had him on 4 feedings of 60 milliliters a day. The vet told me just to have food available but not to force the issue just let him eat when he was ready to. He was also on the A/D diluted half and half with water. It is very calorie dense and nutrient dense. He actually began gaining weight before he started eating. The thing with cats is if they don't take in enough calories in some form rather it's eating or tube feedings they can develop a form of hepatitis. I am so sorry your cat has lymphoma, I have no experience with it only the tube feedings.

Thank You.

I am so worried. I have increased the amount of food I am giving her since she is not eating. She did eat a few kibbles this a.m. at 2:30 but threw up a bit at 3:30.............. I just dont know what to do. I am calling my vet but she just does not want to eat on her own........ I just keep praying she starts.
