I just finished sending out 3 more applications today. One I don't stand a hope in you know what chance of getting, but I applied anyway, because you never know unless you apply, right?

One is for a charge nurse position. Part-time evenings.

The other is in the area of psychiatric nursing.

On Friday I have an interview in the morning, and I hope to line up a second one so that I can just take the whole day off of work.

That sounds interesting.
Good luck on all of them.

Anything that comes along! I'm only applying for jobs that I want to work at, so any of them would be welcomed.

In that case then, you won't be disappointed. Good luck. I hope something opens soon for you.

Sending you lots of vibes, a few of my nurses are kind of gently pushing me to go back to school and pointing out that I would make a good psych nurse

I so need to hear something from these applications!

I nearly walked out today!

Right now I'm sitting here shaking, and lightly crying, and having chest pain because I'm so stricken with anxiety about having to go back there tomorrow!

Never in my entire life have I been affected by a work place like I am now. That whole environment is completely toxic. I'm actually physically sick because of it!

Today I was eavesdropping on a couple of conversations. Two other people out of the entire 6 including me, that sit in the room where my desk is have applied for other jobs. Since I've started there, 7 or 8 nurses have left.

If it weren't for the fact that I've had so much unpaid time (week sick at Christmas, and then 2 weeks unpaid vacation), and that I now have to look forward to about $5,000 in moving expenses (first and last months rent plus damage deposit, moving truck, utility transfer costs) in the next few months, I'd be out of there in a heart beat. But I have obligations and as much as I want to, and need to, I can't quit without another job to go to.

Yes!!!! I heard from that insurance company regarding the Nurse Specialist position! They were only contacting applicants that they felt were qualified for the job! This is the one where I felt my legal background would be of a benefit!

And if I didn't have to move, the place would be within walking distance of where I currently live. How ironic! LOL

I'm taking Friday off as "family sick" so I can interview at a place in the morning. I'm going to try and line up this interview for Friday as well.

Sent out 3 more applications yesterday and today. One was a cold call. I sent an email expressing interest in their company and asked if they had any RN positions stating that I would like to forward my resume.

They emailed me back today asking for my resume. Not sure if they have any vacancies at this point.

Some of the applications I've sent have closed as of Friday last week, or closing soon. So hopefully I will start to hear something from them soon.

So far as the interview I went on Friday, if they offer me the job I'm going to refuse it. The position is on the ventilator ward working with paraplegic patient. It's a very, very heavy ward with all patients needing to be tube fed, or spoon fed and are 100% complete everything because they can't do anything for themselves. Many use eye movements/blinking to communicate. The one aspect of nursing that completely grosses me out are tracheotomies and having to clean and suction trachs. Not to mention that the work would be complete murder on my back.

I should have twigged to this because there were several positions for that particular ward available when I applied. Some terms, but many permanent.

I set up another interview for Thursday. It's a 0.5 evening position as a clinical resource nurse. Basically the desk charge nurse on the ward for the shifts I work.

Evenings isn't exactly my preferred shift, but I don't mind them.
