Neutering question/advice

As I am dealing with Squiggy's health issues I have to make a decision on Lenny getting neutered. They are a week shy of 7 months of age now. My original plan was to have them go in together at 6 months. For obvious reasons, Squiggy is not well enough to have his procedure. There is no chance of pregnancy in this house. They are indoors only. Lenny is showing signs of maturing but has not sprayed or howled. Squiggy is not showing signs.

This may seem silly but is it possible neutering one can affect their bonding or relationship? I dont want two kitties who dislike each other. Having them go in together would help manage fasting, recovery and convenience factors. I've never had two boys together in the house before so I dont have experience with this one. My vet states I may have another few weeks to put off the surgery but only time will tell and ultimately the decision is mine to hold off until his brother is better.

I had a cat go awhile before he got done(heart issue) when the others were all done including his brothers/sisters. He got aggressive(nothing major but at times was horrible to live with:P)

After he got done he went right back to the kitten I knew. Hes almost 10 months now. and was done last week.

I'd get him done ASAP. You never know when he may wake up one morning & suddenly be feeling "tom-catty". And once one starts, the other may readily follow. I've had cats/kittens get fixed at separate times, you have the usual "ewww you smell like vet hiss hiss" going on.

Yes, the smell would be a possible problem, but then, one of my kittens hissed at her brother for a whole afternoon just because a neighbor had held him in her arms that day and left a trace of her perfume on him. It didn't permanently damage their relationship of course, she went back to normal once his smell went back to normal.

Otherwise, there are no problems that could arise from having one cat neutered that could be avoided by keeping both cats intact - if the intact cat reaches sexual maturity and starts attacking the neutered one, exactly the same thing would have happened even if the neutered one hadn't been neutered.

We scheduled him without his brother. Good thing because it took three weeks to get him in. Glad I sent out the post, I didnt know she was so booked on "routine" procedures. They will try and keep room for Squiggy but I dont foresee him being ready in three weeks.

I didn't have any problems with Perkins, Perla and Presley. They did get fixed a few days apart with no ill effect in their relationships at all. Good luck and glad you got them both in at the same time
