The very generous Carolina donated a brand new, passionate purple (lovely color) KatKabin to the auction for Shell. And I won it! It came on Friday.

Interest in box was high because it smelled like Bugsy and family:

Harlow was in and out a bunch of times, until he finally settled. Crumbs of catnip on floor that he spilled out. Catnip got him interested in going in.

Later Ariel gave it a try.

She wishes I would just leave her alone.

Peace at last.

They are the only two who will get in anything. My three DSH black cats won't. And out of the three of them, only Claudio will use a cat bed at all. The two females will only sit on towels or pads, or anything they want, but no cat beds.

But between Harlow and Ariel, I'd say it is a hit!

Oh I think my boys would like something like this a lot... they love getting in boxes, bags, the crows nest at the top of the giant cat tree in the livingroom... Archie likes to hang out inside one of the kitchen cabinets.

OMG, That picture of them around the box is so funny to me
I didn't even realize I would be shipping a bit of my kitties along with the Kabin!
What happened was that when the two kabins got here, I opened the boxes to take a peak at the color, and left the box open... Well... You know how cats and boxes are
. Minutes before shipping I had to take Hope out of the box in order to not ship her along

I am so sorry
!!!
Here in my house I used catnip the first day, but that was it... All the kids love it! Especially Bugsy and Lucky - it gets lots of usage!
I love what you did, putting an extra pad in there - maybe I should do that too... Hum.....
For those saying they would love one.... There is another one being added soon into Shell's Auction! It is an opportunity to get it for a really good price (Robin got this one at 1/2 price, brand new, never used), and all the $$$ going to a very, very worthy cause!

Holland would love it! She loves to be "inside" things...
Cute pictures of your babies enjoying the Kabin.

Oh I didn't mind that they were so interested in the box. It was funny and anything that stimulates them, I'm glad of.

Ariel slept in it all night!
Harlow sleeps with me.

Yes it is all plastic. It is functional, and such a "campy" design. It amuses me.

There is a fleece liner to go inside for outdoor use that can be purchased. Besides not being enough insulation where I live, we have no cats outside. I'd have possums or raccoons living in it, and that wouldn't be good. So my cats get to have it, and as you see, they're glad.

I may get the fleece liner, just for indoor use. I did put a bed inside it because I thought the one that came with was too thin and smooth.

I got it for half price at the first week of Shell's auction. Most everyplace (including Amazon) sells them for $99. But it will last forever. The liner at Amazon is $32.

The KatKabin comes in lots of wonderful colors. I wonder what the next one on Shell's auction will be?

Shell is this really adorable waif who cat rescuer and tcs member, hissy, took in a few weeks ago. Shell was in really bad shape, and her road to recovery will be long and expensive. You can read about her on the thread "Would you help a Shell of a cat?" on the subforum Cat S.O.S.

The auction is put on by people in the cat "blogosphere." They put on auctions to help with this kind of thing. They are "furiends helping furiends." Shell has touched the hearts of so many all over the world, and we all want to help her.

The link to the auction is in the thread "Auction for Shell" in the Members' Marketplace forum here. If you have any questions about it, just send a PM to Carolina as she's running it.

I see that this thread has been moved to the pictures forum. I wish it hadn't. It's not about pictures of my cats. It's about my experience with this new product, the KatKabin, and it's about drawing attention to Shell, and the auction for her. And that's what it was about from the start.

Robin, if it makes you feel better, I probably wouldn't have seen this thread if it hadn't been moved to the pictures forum.
Now I will have to check out the auction for Shell.

Also, hissy's blog at www.feralcatbehavior.com is fascinating with its updates on Shell's progress.

Donations can be made there directly, without participating in the auction.

Week #2 of the auction may have ended. But the third and last week will start soon.

No, no... Week 2 is still going strong... We are deciding on a final date still - probably will end this Sunday, but not sure yet - brand new items still being added, so keep checking in!
