Does anyone know who has the oldest cat?
My last childhood kitty just died last month, at the age of 21 1/2. Her litter-sister died only a few months before, she just made her 21st birthday. Scotty's mother is probably 16 now (Scotty is 11, and the vet who spayed her said she was probably 5 at that time). Those cats all live/lived with my mom, though.

The oldest cat at my house is probably Dakota. Her vet records from her previous owner say she's 12. Mooch may be older, but since he was a stray I can't know for sure. And Scotty is 11, like I said before. The next oldest is 8.

My great grandmother's sister had an outdoor cat named Inky, he lived to be 22 years old. I used to love going to her house when I was little, so I could see him.

We had a sealpoint Siamese for 21 yrs, and he wasn't a little kitten when we adopted him, so I wouldn't be surprised to learn that some members have cats in their 20s. How about starting a poll about the ages of current cats?

Yes, that is what I was looking for, the age of cats the members now have, not those they know about.l I don't know how to start a poll. Can someone tell me how, or start one.

I've added a multiple-choice poll.

When you start a thread, there's an option to "Post a Poll" in the "Additional Options" box at the bottom. Click the "Yes, post a poll with this thread" box, and add the number of poll options (possible replies). After you post your new thread, you'll get a box you can fill out for the poll. You can make it a public poll, where anybody can see how the individual respondents voted, or private. You can also limit people to one answer or allow several.

My 'kitten' is 6

Since most of mine have birthdays within the next few weeks, I answered based on their ages at their next birthdays.

Muddy, Koko, Spanky and Lucky turn 8 in the next few weeks.

Scarlett turns 10 in August.

Pinky turns 11 in a few weeks.

Stumpy turns 16 in a few weeks.

Yup - all of my April babies were born of feral moms during the primary kitten season around here - impregnated in February and born in April.

Wow - I joined TCS shortly after Muddy, Koko and Lucky were born. I've been around here for 8 years!!

Pipsqueak is my oldest cat right now, he is four. I did have a cat that lived to 19 1/2 years of age!! She had a very healthy life with not many issues at all.

In human years, Patch is now about 15 years old.

In Human years as your question asks, my eldest would be Fuzz who, in cat years is 15, but in human years is around 105! He's in great shape for being 105, too! :-D

I've got 10, but just naming the eldest 'cause of finger cramping. lol

But they go from 15, 11, 10, 9, 8, 4, 4, 3, 3, 2 (3 in April! :-D)

Warmly,

Julie O'

Tuxedokitties has a cat, Felixia, who is 23 years old. I remember because I was astonished when she posted her happy 23rd birthday thread in january, because that means there are cats as old as I am.

Mine are 4, they're turning 5 on April 17th.

Holly was 1 in October.

Sneaky will be 10 in April.

And the paperwork I got for Jasper says he's 10. And I'm assuming he's already turned 10, at least that's what his former owner told me.

Oldest cat we've ever had was 17. Mistoflees was such a nice kitty Died of kidney failure about 2 years ago.

When my mom visited, she said that Holly looks just like him. Ok- she may LOOK like Mistoflees- but she is a very, very very different personality than he is

Turvy Demeter lived to be 16, just short of 17, but the oldest of the gang now is 9.

My kitty is turning 2 on the 5th of April.

My Spud will be 18 in July, but I'm afraid he won't make it that far. He is having some issues and fading. In fact I was convinced last night that I would be helping him to the Bridge tomorrow. But he's rallied once again, is eating and doesn't seem like he's ready to go just yet. What a spunky old man!

Me, too! The oldest cats I've known have been in their early 20s. I've never met a kitty over 30!

My girls are 3 yrs 4 months old. How time flies!

My oldest girl was Kiki (who I chose my screen name from). She was about 18 yrs old when she was pts because of kidney failure. She was the best. cat. ever. and I miss her. But I wouldn't my girls in either. They are just as good!

Tre was at least 15, and possibly more when he died last month. Tiny is my oldest now, and she just turned 12 last month. Thufir is about a year behind - I gave him the same birthday as her since I don't know what it is, so he's 11 now. My 'baby,' Promise, will be turning 7 in May. I can't believe that the little bitty kitten I found out in the alley will be old enough to be considered a 'senior' cat.

My cats are both 6.

Whisper and Bootser will turn 17 in July.
BooBoo and Ms. Pepe just turned 15 this past February.
Amber Louise will be 9 in November.
And Mollipop just turned 1 this past February.

So we have all ages around here.

Actually, by the end of the 1st year of a cat's life, they're a human equivalent of 24 years old. Then they age at a rate of 4 human years per year.

Whisky's Dad, I can't calculate how old your kitty would be in human years, but Julie, your cat is 80.

I think you all might be confusing the definition of human years vs cat years? Human years are the actual physical 365-day (well, 365.25) years we all know and love.

CAT YEARS is us humans' attempt to equivalate a cat's age with what we consider to be appropriate age markers (i.e. 1 year is 24 because cats start to mature and act less kittenish at that point, and 6 years old is middle aged because that's when cats get the same health problems as middle aged humans).

So Tails is 7 months old in human years, but he is a teenager in cat years.
