There are a few of us from Winnipeg and the surrounding area actually. A couple aren't very active at the moment.

Ok, I'm born and raised in Canada and I've never heard the expression "the Queen City." Why is Regina called that?

It's called The Queen City because Regina is Latin for queen. If you look closely, the official Royal Insignia is made up of the following letters: REII, Regina Elizabeth the Second.

Speaking of The Queen City, I am many miles of bad highway south of there

This is just an honest question. I have been to Quebec, Quebec several times. I have a huge globe right behind me. It is up to date. I also have a national graphic map on one wall. Neither shows a place called Quebec City. These same maps do not show any such place as New York City or Mexico City, etc., etc. Has anybody ever heard of the New York City Yankees? Of course not. Can you find New York City on any map? The answer is no. I do understand that people do this to avoid confusion but I was severely corrected once when I was in the city of Quebec that there was no Quebec City. Geeeez, I thought the guy was going to pound me.

I am very aware of how different the two cities are. Quebec is one of the last walled cities in north America. My knowledge of Spanish is of no help there! The last time I was in Montreal, I saw Arcade Fire, winner of the Grammy for being the best band in the world. I agree. Suburbs is the best album ever made since Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. Having females and males in the group with unusual musical instruments is more than awesome.

When my parents left Ohio ended up in Quebec City so i was raised there.....till i was 16, now back to Quebec City with my own family in tow. In Montreal your knowledge of Spanish would come in handy these days!
See, i don't understand the big deal about Arcade Fire I'm a Lady GaGa fan

I grew up in Woodstock, moved to London when I attended college here about 5-6 years ago and just never left.

My one sister still lives in Woodstock, the other lives in St Francois, QC (I think, lol, she just moved). Before that she lived in Trois Pistoles for quite some time, then moved to Sept Iles, then back to Trois Pistoles. I love both Montreal and Quebec City, I think Quebec City is only a few hours from where my sister lives... at least if I remember correctly from driving there, lol.

Eventually Mike and I will move to either Toronto or Halifax, we have a lot of friends in both places.

Mike is from South Porcupine (Timmins area) and has lived in London, Ottawa and BC (Vancouver I think), as well as South Porcupine, Timmins, and Kirkland Lake.

Yosemite (Linda) - I actually worked for the Ingersoll Times a few years ago, as well as the Norwhich Gazette
