Peeing

I just took in a homeless cat. He's about a year old. Had him neutered and declawed a week ago. For the first day or so he used his litter box without problems. Last few days, he poops in the box but pees everywhere. Help.

Just so you know, this is something that often happens to declawed cats due to the pain on their mutilated toes when touching the litter - they associate that pain to peeing, and on the cat's mind, if they pee outside of the box, it is not going to hurt.
What litter are you using? Have you taken him to the vet to check his paws to make sure they are not infected?
What are you cleaning the pee spots with? Are you using an enzyme cleaner? is the box covered or uncovered? Where is the box located?

Welcome to TCS! I am sorry your cat is in pain, and that is what I believe the litter box issue is. Unfortunately, declawing a cat can lead to litter box problems. I would take your cat to the vet who did the surgery and have the paws looked at. Also, is the cat on any pain meds? This is a very, very painful procedure. You should not be using regular litter, you need to use shredded newspaper or yesterday's new or something very soft. Sure hope your cat feels better very soon.
