Ella is loud; if she's purring, it's easy to hear her in the next room. But she's not THAT loud!

Just as a point of interest, I think 92 decibels at 18 inches is the recommended maximum for proposed exhaust noise legislation for motorcycles and hot rods.

Never put a meter on our "Sam", but I'll bet she'll give Smokey a run for the decibels.

Hmmmm. I don't know about the loudness of my kitties' purrs, but as a Meezer owner I think Polly's voice could give Smokey a run for her money.

I've been meaning to get a video of her talking. My camera is dead right now. I'm going to charge it up and take some video tomorrow, I think.

ETA: Maybe it's my speakers or something, but Smokey doesn't sound loud. The decibels speak for themselves, though.

That is the strangest sounding purr I've ever heard!
I've never heard any of my cats purr like that.

I saw that before, but I don't think that is a purr.

It sounds to me like its just an unusual meow using the vocal cords, which is why it can register so loud. Purring I thought was really just spasms of the diaphragm.

I couple of my cats purr loud - Archie is the loudest... and Prowler purrs like he has a pidgeon in his throat! LOL
